GTX3582R :-) which turbine housing to go for?
rwdwiganer replied to rwdwiganer's topic in mkiv Technical
I have had a look into this, think I will still be going for a GT35r but unsure which a/r to go for and if T3 or T4 fitment? As I'm looking for over 500bhp am I right T4 is the only way? I have been told to go for a 0.8 or 1.06 a/r but can anyone please give me any advice on this? -
I have found a company supplying the turbo I want http://realstreetperformance.com/store/61mm-garrett-gtx35r-gtx3582r-gtx3582-billet-ball-bearing-turbo-2010.html but i'm unsure which turbine housing will suit the 2JZ best, or if it is pretty irrelevant and won't make much difference? I have been told to go for a .82 housing to achieve what i'm looking for. I haven't yet bought my manifold, but will be running a 4inch downpipe and exhaust system, but would it be better going for a T3 4-bolt, T3 3" v-band or T4 3" v-band or will it really make no difference what so ever?! Sorry, I have a bit of learning to do when it comes to turbos in general!

Can someone check my fueling set-up for 600hp atf please!
rwdwiganer replied to rwdwiganer's topic in mkiv Technical
Thanks Paul, I will be looking for up to 600hp atf so may change to a Bosch if the Walbro is at it's limit. Looks like I will be having a set of injectors off you in the next few months, I was looking on your website and I see you stock both the pump and injectors. If your Sard injectors fit straight into the standard rail they will be on my shopping list! First job is to find an engine and gearbox and get it in the FD! -

Lol.. Well there is a lot of info. but can't find a set-up identical to what i'm looking to use, so thought it would be sensible to check with the experts first! -
I was just hoping someone wouldn't mind checking my fueling set-up for me before I actually jump in and start shopping! Just for reference I will be using a GTX35r turbo... I have a Walbro 255 in the tank at the moment, but am I right in saying I will have to up-grade to a in-tank Single Bosch 044? I'm looking for a set of 850cc injectors at the moment, but am I right 800s will be more than up to the job? (if someone would like to sell me a set! :-) I think I need side-feed injectors to fit the standard fuel rail, and am I right there are 850s and 800s that fit straight in? Am I right that I will need high-impedance injectors on a J-spec 2JZ? Any info on this would really be appreciated... I have been using the search but my eyes are going funny after a good few hours reading! Cheers!

Cheers! Think I will go for 3.5"... The RX7 is bloody low, think it would be a bit of a squeeze getting a 4" system under there lol...
-
Ok cheers! Wasn't expecting what answers i'd get with this question! Lol so basically bigger is better?! I won't be going too crazy with the tuning, if my funds stretch as far as the GTX3582r price, i'll be going for that over the earlier GT3582R... I think I should of asked what would be the ideal exhaust diameter for up to 600bhp atf lol
-
Hi, I will be having a custom made downpipe and front section to possibly fit to an off-the-shelf 'cat-back' system, but have no idea what pipe diameter to go for?! I will be using a GT35r single turbo set up in my soon to be 2JZ RX7, but have no idea if to go for a 3", 3.5" or even 4" system? Any help would be really appreciated so I can go ahead and order the pipe I need! Cheers!

Anyone used TJZ Engineering for a JZ engine before?
rwdwiganer replied to rwdwiganer's topic in Supra Chat
Hi, did manage to do a comp test, the front rotor gave really good results but the back rotor looked to be lower. I have had the car running but it was a pain to start! I'll be taking the engine and box out at the weekend (hopefully!) and on to ebay or the rotary forum I think! -

I have seen all the US sites regarding the quite expensive bolt-in kit. Who needs a bonnet?! lol... no really something else I will need to look at, but will be much further down the line. My RX7 was only £1500, not sure if the engine is too healthy but will be doing a compression test hopefully later today. Will then be selling the engine and box if all is well. Fingers crossed it is ok! I bought the car with no MOT and with quite a bad leak from the radiator. I wasn't too concerned about the rotary engine in it, if it's ok though it's a bonus... :-) -

Sorry I don't have any pics of the 'Datsun' on here at the moment. It's a mint, white R33 GTSt spec 2, RSP tuned 407hp atf. I love the car, but I want something a bit different and I love JZ engines :-) Keron will be my next call for sure! Does anyone by any chance know anyone in the Manchester area that could take the wiring on including fitting stand-alone management, turbo timer and boost controller? Obviously this could well be later on in the year, but nothing wrong with planning in advance! -

I think I will to be honest, Keron will be my next phone call! Most of the work will be carried out by a local engineering company. I am fortunate to be in a position where I know the owner of the company, and he is more than willing to make his own kit (possibly using a Supra subframe to fit) and fit the engine and box into the car. He will also be manufacturing the 4 inch downpipe to suit and any other fittings I will need. The electrics and wiring on the other hand, I haven't looked too much into yet! -

Sorry, no it's for an RX7 FD conversion i'm doing. They hate me on the Mazda rotary forum and i've only been on a week lol... I wasn't at all negative towards the rotary either, I just like straight 6 engines! I bought the car a couple of weeks back, haven't even driven it! I just want to get a real engine in there and get the rotary out... I know I need a 2JZ, the RB25 in my Datsun is good, but 400atf is about it's reliable limit IMO... -

What is the best price you have seen one going for if you don't mind me asking? I'm not 100% on the clutch and flywheel, i'm only going off what I've been told tbh. Was around £800... -

Cheers for the help and advice! Just need to find a good enough 1JZ clutch and flywheel too now... oh and a GTX35R if anyone knows somewhere that could do me a good deal on them, lol I have to try!... -

Cheers for your advice everyone, think i'll shop around a bit first before jumping in at the deep end... Can't say I like this pay in full cash up front bit -

I didn't think of Jurgen, JM Imports am I right? I didn't know he could supply parts too. I have been offered an engine and box off a bloke from Ireland too, but in this case I could go and collect and pay for this in person... -

It's genuine lol! Looking for a 2JZ and R154 box at the moment, cash waiting... Just unsure of this pre-order cash up front idea, not too comfortable with it tbh, but Matt does seem a nice, genuine bloke and he was very helpful over the phone. I'm only looking for him to supply me with all the parts I need, not an engine conversion or anything... -
Hi, i'm looking to order a 2JZ engine from TJZ Engineering. They specialise in importing engines from Japan. The owner Matt has been really helpful so far, just wanting to know if anyone else has used them previously as my 'pre-order' engine is quite a sum of money to be paid up front! Cheers!

My 550-600hp 2JZ shopping list :-)... Help please!
rwdwiganer replied to rwdwiganer's topic in mkiv Technical
You are right, I will have to wait and see what space I have to play with. I think going off what I have seen so far I may go for a t67dbb turbo possibly off the shelf from whifbitz (if they do one) or unless anyone can recommend another good UK supplier as i'm pretty sure the Precision turbos are only available from outside the UK? This is of course if everything will actually fit! If this is an issue a t61 may be my only option! I am hoping that an XS Power manifold will fit too (I know the quality is questionable...) but you were right, only time will tell! I know I am really indecisive, but the impressive power figures ive seen at quite low boost with t67 turbos is the thing that is putting me off going for a t61. Will there be much difference in spool up times between the two with my standard engine? I don't want the car to be too laggy... -

Thanks for the fast replies! I really don't know what I would do without this forum! Right I will look into all the options you have both listed above, really do appreciate your suggestions! Sorry to keep questioning what 'safe' boost I should be ok to run on my standard 2J engine, i'm not used to options where power figures like this are so easily achieveable! I'm used to my Nissans that seem to melt at anything above 1.3 bar! A T61 precision or GTX35r look like the favourite two I will be looking at. The t67 turbos sound to me like the ideal turbos for a Supra?... but seems to me in my case with the engine being fitted in an RX7 (so limited space) and with standard engine (headgasket and cams) I think it might be physically too big or create too much turbo lag without the other engine modifications needed to run higher power, this is only my limited understanding of course! -

rwdwiganer replied to rwdwiganer's topic in mkiv Technical
I must admit I have been looking at the XS Power manifolds too, I suppose only time will tell when I know exactly just how much room I will have to play with. Trying to choose the right turbo is proving to be a bit of a nightmare though! I was convinced a GT35r would produce the figures I want, with stock cams, head gasket and bolts, but is up to 600hp atf safe with this set up? What boost do you think I might have to run to achieve this safely? Would a t61 be a better option? Possibly a bullseye series turbo from Whifbitz? I'm slightly lost when it comes to turbo's as there are so many available! I'm simply looking for one to produce the kind of power I want on a stock engine... -

Thanks, just had a quick look... The treadstone cast manifold from the US seems cheap to buy at least! -

rwdwiganer replied to rwdwiganer's topic in mkiv Technical
I know this is no easy conversion, but I have a really good, proven engineer carrying out the conversion. He will be manufacturing his own kit to fit the engine and box into the FD. I must admit i'm more concerned about the wiring that will be involved just to get it running! Downpipe won't be a problem, manifold possibly, but looking into that as we speak. I am considering using a cast manifold but will be checking what room there will be in the engine bay before deciding on one for sure!
