  1. sounds awesome- sign up and use the vast knowledge on here to help you along.

I had a '79 coupe recently, just with a stock 1600 twin carb and had great fun- would love to see more of your project :)

  2. Ha ha damn straight it is- was quite a surprise! It was the slippyest part of the track and it appeared my NSF brake may have been stuck off a little as it wasn't as warm os the OSF the run after, so with a bit of "encouragement" on the next run everything was back to normal. Good to hear you've had the same issue though bud and it doesn't just happen to me :)

sounds good for Friday bud, enjoying it is what its all about :) wise move to back off the rear bar if its wet. Which droplinks do you use- rose jointed ones? I'm on stock type jobbies so for me to adjust mine would be a pain.

    Enjoy :)

  3. cool stories :)

the short of my story is I'd sprinted / tracked a 2.0 FWD, 1.0 FWD and it was time for the next step. Looking at toyotas that fitted the RWD bill supras were the obvious choice, and as much as i'd have loved a mk2 and upgraded it, it was just finacially more sense to get a mk4 NA. Couple of weeks later I found a manual for sale and went for a look whilst visiting family, and as it was so straight it was mine within a week. It was a bit crowded as I still had my '99 yaris and '79 celica, but it was great to have 3 sets of keys to choose from every morning for the couple of years it lasted

  4. Just while on the subject of weight, I know i'll prob get flamed for it but there is some info on NA lightening here:

    http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?240416-Another-Supra-for-the-Toyota-Sprint-Series&highlight=sprint+series

and i havent time to check but I think alex wrote something on his NA in this thread too but havent time to check:

    http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?197788-NA-Supra-Sprint-Track-setup&highlight=sprint+series

i know most will say "buy a TT" but for those few of us that do like to run NA's, thought this could be useful.

  5. you wont regret it- torque is very important!

i had a cheap one for years, upgraded to a halfords one about 6/7 years ago and its great. my low range one is a clarke from machine mart, but thats a pain in the a55 as it only has lb/ft force and inch pounds on the scale, so you have to use a conversion table for NM readings from toyota manuals. just something to consider if you look elsewhere not just halfords ;)

  6. Thanks for the kind words fellas, shucks

I too had a play at barkston in pro class as I have semi slicks on, it was certanly a handful getting the car round in places as Dan said but was a fun day out and Dan and I did show some of the cars more suited to the track up, just wish I abused the car a bit more, I felt myself holding back for some reason!

good to see you on here Ed :) you did well matey smashed my time anyway! i think we both did well for the supra marque for such a track which is more suited to, well, anything but a supra! well done fella. And holding back? that last pic says otherwise ;)

awesome braking pics pedro! thats awesomely impressive :) glad it locked up equally too making it controlable!

ha ha i assume thats a joke about the brake discs ;) glad they didnt disintegrate whilst out there!

  7. good stuff manwithsupra, good to have a catch up, not been on here in a while :) i'll have to watch the vids if i ever get time when home though!

been out again myself at Barskton Heath sprint track for round 3 of the TSS:

nice open chicane to get a small nimble car like a supra through:

i love going back there its great fun! i did my bit for promoting supras too- in the street class (all interior fitted, stock engine between manifolds, no track tyres) i, er, won- beating ST205 celicas and even a GT86 (althought it was completely stock) by two hundreths of a second lol. 15 overall from 29 cars- i know it doesnt sound much but its my best result ever i think!

  8. not sure if i'm too late here Rich not been on much recently, and cant answer 100% because i've never stripped a 2JZ- but- the design of the head seems similar to toyota 3S series engines, and for those i used to use this compressor:

    http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cht459-hd-valve-spring-compressor?da=1&TC=SRC-valve+spring+compressor

    worked dandy on the 3S.

if you did get one that works for the 2JZ for sure then let us know fella :)

  9. ooh i look forward to seeing this vid pedro, when on a PC that i can actually watch it on! great to hear the trans is all good and allowing you to play with more boost

these came out a while back but i did promise i'd pop a few pics up from my first sprint so here they are:

sideways FTW!!! comments / questions welcomed as always ;)

  10. i know mate, i'll be back matey dont worry ;)

superb. i dont think the old jspecs are as bad as some people make out, but they certainly aren't epic lol! i can imagine they get a little warm with constant use too!

good stuff :) are they the adjusable ones? if so what have you set your rear one to?

    - - - Updated - - -

PS get some woodbridge pics up fella ;)

  11. good stuff, might try the foam- only ever used the brush on and the spunky (sorry cant think of a better word- gloopy?) pump spray type one in the past. Good old smoothrite  its come out very well- damn sight cheaper than engine enamel too!

ha ha cheers mate, although no turbo for me for a long long time yet! ;) good luck for the next step of the build and keep us updated mate, enjoying this thread.

  12. good job mate looks great, even better than my coffee table

thought you were giving it a shave looking at the first couple of pics. what sort of paint did you use?

  13. hi ed! good to see you on these pages mate, hope you are enjoying the supra :)

i believe you did really well at TSS round 2- nice one. not too chuffed that i couldn't make it but i'll be there, all being well, at round three.

that brake upgrade looks great by the way! any planned upgrades after competing in it for a second time?

  14. that's cool mate :) i know next to feck all about supras but thats one thing I do know  glad its all in hand.

exhaust is doing great cheers fella, and yours and previous owners guess of less that 88db were spot on- i got 86 db static at my last event so its dandy and getting well used! :) it was also attached to the second fastest toyota on road tyres at my last event, its all I can claim so i'm hanging onto any positive I can find, proves the new chassis is working well too ;) cheers again for the exhaust mate, i like it :)

  15. brill stuff rich its coming on a treat- don't mess about do ya!

one thing i've thought of, if you dont replace the water pump or just replace it with a new "front half" it might be worth replacing the core plug in the back half of the housing whilst its off, because it might be corroded from the inside.

great work keep it up, and of course keep us posted
