  1. add parents or older bro/sisters as names drivers
  2. ok well I'm just getting quotes for when I get my supra soon and check this, with admiral, if I get a 1993-1996 (imp) auto turbo hatchback RZ, my quote is over £4k!!! if however I just have a 1993-1996 (imp) auto turbo hatchback my quote is £756.20 I don't know how much difference the RZ makes but that is a CRAZY difference. oh and an N/A costs me £10 less a year to insure so its all very confusing
  3. yeah that was the plan, they said I can go back another day and drive it but its was quite a drive and they wern't particularly friendly people. I wouldn't want to lie to a member on here and say I was genuinely looking to buy their car like you can at a garage, I am a test pilot at the moment, I'm just trying to see how they perform in standard and BPU form before being completely 100% that I want a supe. I can live with the high maintenance cost as long as it performs astonishingly well so make it worthwhile:)
  4. ok well my plan of action is. stick my car up for sale and get some money. then prbably goto Jurgen to import me a ready BPU'd supe. I just wanted to see how a standard one drives then drive a BPU to see the difference. I was going to maybe put a request on here for a member to drive me in theirs but thats a wee bit cheeky so though I'd drive some for sale ones.
  5. ok thats good to know. I was worried my standards were maybe to high for a standard car but I was sure that this one was just way too slow. I shall have to go drive some more I guess.
  6. I suspect it was losing boost as there was no spooling noise, or if there was it was so quiet that I couldn't hear it. edit: ok well the first was definately not BPU as the exhaust was standard and certainly no B.O.V. I guess it could of had upped the boost but everything else was standard. the second one was this one: http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/TOYOTA+SUPRA/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-240-4294966983-4294967144/advert.action?R=200910330123610&distance=50&postcode=CB1+3HA&channel=CARS&make=TOYOTA&model=SUPRA&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=&vehicleRegLetter=N
  7. Hi guys, I don't know how many fo you remember me but I was looking for a supra about 6 months ago on here. as it went I ended up buying another car which turned out to of been a mistake and now I'm back after a supra. and definately a TT:) Ok so went to test drive my first last week, I believed it to be standard apart from bigger alloys. the car drove amazingly and was quick. Of note there was quite a big kick when the second turbo kicked in. There was also a lot of the usual turbo car sounds and whistling and even when gently accelerating you could hear the turbo spool up not loudly but you could hear it easily. Just went to drive a second to make sure it is what I wanted and the condition was stunning, no other word for it. went for a drive and the performance was....ok. so there was no whistling at all and I waited for the second kick and it just never came. It would be silly for me to call it slow but from about 15mph I floored it right up to about 70 and that took a good 7 seconds which is poor in a car that should hit 60 in around 5ish. So got back to the garage and I said its wildly underperforming, the responded that I must of driven a modified one as there should be no kick it should be smooth acceleration all the way through. ok maybe thats true. they then told me that on supra's both turbo's spool up and work simultainiously which I'm pretty sure is lobbocks. I argued my case that there is a turbo for low down then a second takes over later on. anyway we then opened the bonnet and noticed straight away that the thick black hose on the left side of the engine has a slit almost all the way around it and assumed thats where it was losing boost but they assured me the performance was on par with all TT supe's they had sold. if so then they don't feel that quick in standard form for a car with so much power. which is why I am so confused So I'm still actually unsure if I have driven a standard tt supra, so my question is how should a standard one perform. are they s**t scary fast standard or had I driven a modified one? should there be a quite big leap in power later on in the rev range or are they smooth the whole way through? would the leak in the pipe (unsure of the name) of affected performance or would that of been as good as it got? any thoughts would be appreciated. Eddy
  8. the problem with the search function is its useless a lot of the time, many times as I am looking at n/a supes at the moment have I searched "n/a 0-60" which said all my words were too short, then tried "n/a performance" again it just searched performance as n/a is too short. There are a many examples of a questions with words like or/as/to and words like this which it won't search which makes things very difficult, not just this forum. a questions I have been looking to get answered is what gear does the n/a hit 60?
  9. I have, the roadster is on autotrader and the garage's site. its up for 5999 but I would take 5k, do garages not like taking a car and giving money for a car worth more?
  10. Ok, well I've made a decision yesterday. As of now I have a savings account and a monthly direct debit of £350 going in there, I know its not gonna leave me a great deal of cashish to enjoy to myself every month but gotta think about the future and what-not (boring eh?) So now I am basically set on getting an n/a as there is no way I can afford to run a tt on the money I will have each month now. Question I have for you guys now is, My current smart roadster is actually still for sale through a local garage. as its a "buyers market" I'm just wondering if say for instance I see a nice supe on the internet at a garage, Do you think I would be better to offer my car in part exchange or wait till mine sells then pay cash? which way would I get a better deal? Eddy
  11. oh and out of curiosity, how much roughly are we talking to convert an n/a to na-t or na-tt? I tried the search but all word were to short to search apparently? coulpe of grand or mega bucks? oh and I think everyone advising me to drive both is definately correct as I need to feel them myself and go from there,
  12. Supralove

    hey everyone

welcome mate, seems me and you are both possibly in the same boat. whats your budget?
  13. I have pm'd jurgen with loads of questions regarding importing me one to see whats what as that is a very very good price. for all I know £5k worth of turbo import will get me a much better car for the £5k turbo one's I seem to be finding online. if this is the case I might as well go for the turbo. In regard to spending half my earnings (say £600 after paying bills etc) running the car I don't know if I would be happy to do that. say I do 100 miles a week, whats that about £40 in fuel per week or is that optimistic. Insurance will be paid in full when I buy it so no insurance to worry about for a year, same with tax. maintenance wise will I really need to budget a few hundred quid per month just to keep her running? Unless you including addiction to modding the beast:D
  14. thanks jihwaan, that is cool to know
  15. Well this was one of my first questions in the na v tt argument. I have only once driver at over 100mph and I have no intention of doing it regularly. in fact its rare to find me going over 80mph which is why I was asking weather the difference in performance was big enough to warrant me waiting and probably spending more on the car as I won't ever feel the tt's party peice which is acceleration at high speed. I'm not in a huge rush but would like to think no later than a couple of months.
  16. I know I've seen it and its stunning. except for the fake carbon fibre dash:( which exhausts are good for the n/a? Scooter, can I ask why after going from an n/a to a tt did you go back to n/a?
  17. hi chris, what was your original budget and did you end up spending more on the tt or was it within you original? One thing for certain is if I do get an n/a it will have to be manual, quick question regarding what revs the car sits at at 70mph. also are the cars quite insulated or with a big exhaust does it give you a headache on long motorway trips? cheers guys
  18. yeah I've heard alot of people going for n/a then adding a turbo or something. na-t is that right? ok so I've been doing the rounds on autotrader just now. do any n'a's come with leather, cruise, climate and other things or are these tt exclusive? I have also read that there is not much you can do mod wise to the n/a to increase the power? do things like exhaust and induction add much or help the car breath easier and remove any flat spots (if there are any)and is the n/a a torquey car or is all the power at the high end of the rev range? sorry for all the questions and I do appreciate all the help so far guys and gals
  19. I'm 21 mate. ok a question to the n/a owners. what cars did you have before your n/a and do you find it to be a quick enough car to excite you when you give it some?
  20. yeah my last car was a smart roadster. turbo-charged rwd. in fairness its only 80bhp but it taught me what rwd cars do when you floor it going sideways:d I certainly won't be doing that in a supra
  21. ^^ are these things that could go wrong in the n/a as well or just the turbo's?
  22. would you mind going into more detail?
