  1. It photoshop. The real exhaust is on the left. Look carefully at the one on the right. You can see road where there shouldn't be any, and you can see the edges and corners where they cropped from the left.
  2. I have recently been looking for a speedo converter for my J-spec TT6 (1993), as it's currently reading km/h. I've not had a Supra long, but as far as I can tell from reading articles on the net, the speed signal is electronic. If this is the case, does anyone know what type of signal it is? Is it pulsed or variable voltage, and if it's pulsed would it be width modulation or frequency modulation, as the cars speed changes? I was thinking it would be pretty simple and cheap to build a converter using a PIC microprocessor. It's just basic math to convert from kph to mph and alter the speedo signal before it reaches the dial. This got me thinking it would also mean that it would be easy to make custom dash intruments. A Digital speedo displaying numbers could be made for just a few quid, and LED rev counters with shift light etc... The speedo converters I've seen start at about £80, or there's the ebay ones for around £25, but are they reliable? I reckon there can't be much more than £5 worth of parts in any speedo converter. Can anyone enlighten me on the signal types, or do I need to go for a drive with my oscilloscope in the passenger seat and the dash hanging off ?
  3. Brown trousers. Yup. Had a couple of brown trouser moments pulling out of junctions. You learn to be a bit lighter with the right foot pretty fast. I wasn't overly keen on the Veilside spoiler and bumper. The skirts I liked. I was planning to change the spoiler and maybe the bumper, but they are growing on me, so will leave it as is for the time being. Cheers for the nice comments.
  4. I've been a member here for about a week now and not posted a pic of my car yet, so here's one. It was taken on a mobile, so is not the best. It's a J-Spec TT 6 Speed. Lovin' it.
  5. I'm no expert, but my Supra passed the MOT with no fog lights. Not sure if it should have?, but it did. That's prolly not much help to you though Sorry.
  6. Driving fast it is then. Just need to find a secluded straight nearby. The main reason I would like to know is because the speedo converters also include delimiters. If I am already delimited I can get just the conversion unit. If I were to get the combined unit surely the wiring would be confusing if the car is already delimited? The fuel ignition timing computer is a HKS F-Con V. From what I've read nobody really touches these in this country. The car was imported 2 years ago, it's a 6speed TT, with blitz boost controller. Defi guages and link unit.(Boost, water, oil). Also a blitz Turbo timer. Regards.
  7. Ooops. Yeh, it's a j-spec. It reads 180kmh on the clock. I dunno where I got 150 from. So driving fast is the only way to know for sure? I've only had the car 2 days, so still finding my feet with what's what. There is a fuel ignition timing computer fitted, but to be honest I'm not at all sure what it does, other than what it says on the tin. Would it be possible this could also delimit the car? Thanks for any help.
  8. My speedo and odo is still in Km and I would like to change it to Miles. I found a guide on the forum that referrs to a unit from THOR Racing. http://thor-racing.co.uk/DSC+TSD_Combined-DSC+TSD.asp Also this unit cropped up in the search... http://www.ncs-systems.com/details.php?pID=1213 One problem is that I don't know if the car is already delimited. My guess would be that it is. Is there a way to tell apart from driving at like 150 Mph? Any ideas? Cheers.
  9. Well I have my first Supra sat on my driveway now. Will be getting it insured in the morning, but I have a few questions that some of you might be able to help me with. It's a TT 6 speed. There is a Blitz Auto Turbo Timer (see pic). Does anyone have any documentation for this unit, or a weblink? I also need help with a Blitz Dual Boost controller, and an HKS F-CON V Fuel and ignition timing computer. Info or weblinks? I did some digging but most of the stuff I came up with is for newer versions of these units. The ignition timing computer thing seems pretty much unsupported and not worth bothering with. Looks like I'll just leave that as it is. Looking at the pic it looks like it's not connected. I'll have to check that out when it's light again. Is the limited slip diff traction control fitted as standard on the RZ, or has that been added? Any information you can help with would be greatly appreciated. I have no idea how these work and don't really want to mess about trial and error style to find out how they work. Many thanks.
  10. OK. So declaring everything would be my safest bet. I did phone my current insurer earlier and it was a real marathon. I listed all the stuff that wasn't manufacturer fitted. She (the insurance clerk) then phoned the underwriters. So she had me on one phone and them on the other, and was asking things like "what the turbo timer does?" and relaying my reply to the underwriter. Then it was "What does the f-con v fuel ignition timing computer do"? As I just bought the car (my 1st Supra) and don't have it in my possesion yet, I could not give accurate answers to all the questions. I dunno what the hell a f-con v fuel ignition timing computer does...... Then there's the electronic boost controller...... Anyway I got a quote from them, but wanted to shop around a bit, but if I got to go through that every time, I could be dead before I'm done. Thanks for the replies guys. I'll just phone a few and see how it goes....
  11. I searched the threads here about insurance and, as you might expect, I found a lot of variation in peoples experiences. One thing that confuses me though is companies saying "Only 6 modifications allowed", stuff like that. Does anyone know what counts as a "modification"? The 6spd TT I've bought, has 16 MODs if you count things like the stereo, steering wheel, boost guage, even the gearknob. How fussy are these companies when it come to stuff like this. It's not like somebody added a steering wheel that wasn't there before, the car would have had one anyway....... So what counts as a MOD, or should I just declare everything no matter how trivial? Any advice from those who have boldly gone before me? Thanks.
  12. That was a fast reply. Thanks. I've been to Jurgen's website and I did give it some thought, but to be honest I'd rather buy a car I can go look at, rather than order one on import. I know they have some stock, but it looks to be mostly "sold", "deposit paid" or not in the UK yet. I don't mind a bit of a wait, but would like to have a car before the new year really.
  13. My search for a Supra has begun. I've been looking at Supra's for months now, and now feel I'm now ready to buy one. I've been looking on PistonHeads, ebay and auto trader, oh and here of course. Are there any other web sites I should frequent while looking or have I pretty much got it covered? Thanks for any suggestions.
  14. Well I gotta get one now. I don't want to waste a tenner for nothing. Seriously though, even just browsing the forums for the last 4 weeks or so, just reading stuff is worth the subscription fee. I picked up loads of useful tips that will help when I go looking at cars. I'm all for supporting a great site such as this. Seems like there a ton of information and experience here that money just couldn't buy. Thanks for the welcomes.
  15. Hi all. I've been lurking here in the shadows for a while, and have just joined the forum and paid my subscription. I'll be looking for a TT 6 speed Supra very soon. I gotta get a sensible family car sorted first, but then the hunt for a Supra will be on. Hopefully I'll be on the lookout by the end of October. Seems like a great bunch of people here. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you guys and girls, have some fun and come to some meets too, once I have a car of course. So that's me saying hello.
