hello everyone,
I am having a problem trying to hold 1.35 bar boost on my hks to4r. Basically the boost is inconsistent i.e 1 bar-1,1,1,3 etc and changes at random.
I have checked my pipes for splits etc, and also have changed my xs wastegate to a greddy one. I have a xs power manifold which does not look bad internally, has neat welds and decent size hole for dump pipe. i have also changed my boost controller to blitz sbc-id.
Has anybody here had this problem, anyone got any ideas to what could be causing this as it is driving me nuts!

Hello and welcome,
I am in west midlands maybe see u around.

Hello mate,
I had a similar problem once and it turned out to be my wideband sensor. I bought a new sensor for it. Have u calibareted it recently.
The bosch sensor on the innovate is the same as some audi/vw and i got few from my breakers yard about 25 quid each.

Hello guys,
Interesting thread. I have a hks To4r .96 and stock cams. I dont find it laggy and like someone said earlier in a manual you can just use the box to get the car going.
Also i believe the driver makes a big difference to how the car performs on road. I am well happy with my to4r and find that my car actually grips alot better than when i had my twins, because it really squats when the boost kicks in.

Hello guys,
I will be going guys, so put me down.
I will be doing a few runs on the strip as well.

thanks for your comments guys,
I agree with mike that every car is different, so how can a tuner tell u on the phone without even seeing the car that high tens afr is what they would aim for when surely it might differ between cars.
I am running around 10.9 afr at the moment but will be leaning out to 11.5 afr once i got my boost spikes sorted due to my xs wastegate, which i am changing to a greddy.

hello mate,
i used some black diamond discs and pads, they felt like a waste of money. Loads of brake fade and one lap at donnington the discs warped. To be honest it comes down to your driving style.
I would go with stock over some aftermarket discs and go with decent pads, 5.1 fluid and braided hoses. I now run 8 pot calipers and ferrodo ds2500 pads and 356mm discs. The best money i have spent on her.
After all, u can not put a price on safety.

The reason i was asking was, recently spoke to a few tuners not mentioning any names who said that they would be running in the high tens. I was under the impression that this is still a bit rich and trimming of a bit would bring noticable improvement in power.
So are these tuners playing safe?
I thought a tuner was someone who could extract every bit of power but reliably, thats what there getting paid to do.

hello everyone,
Just out of interest, was wondering what afr are members running at WOT and at what boost levels on stock bottom ends.
Also how much timing retard was needed and at what rpms.
It would be nice to see different people/tuners approach to mapping/setting up.
Thanks in advance.

Hey
in New Members
Well hello and Hi.
Missed JAE, what a shame.

Hello mate,
Sounds good, will there be any track time available for the club members? and how many sessions are available?
-
I would never let anyone drive my pride and joy, except when i am mapping it. Even then it is only one person, who's driving i trust, and who helps when i am working on my supe.
Also it makes you feel special knowing that only you get to drive her ......HARD!

happy birthday mate, all the best and have a great time.

thankyou for your comments everyone.
Gaz, i will try changing the hoses before i dismantle it, hope it works will save alot of time and hassle. Did you replace the hoses with larger internal diameter ones?, and thanks for tip mate.

hi guys.
I have owned mainly Nissans as this my first Toyota. Done plenty of nissans(s14,s13, r32, pulsars) for friends and locals and am known locally. As this im my first toyota its bit of a learning curve but am getting there, slowly but surely. Always used E manage as all friends cars are mainly road cars and is pretty cheap.
Homer mate, I did use the xs power manifold and wastegate and yes i do have an overboosting problem. I will be taking the manilfold of soon and try grinding the welds and maybe modify the dump pipe. I have already pulled the wastegate of to grease up the shaft etc. You get what u pay for , can't turn back time would not have bought it. Dyno figures were at hubs @ 1.35 bar.

Hello mate.
I am the first owner and bought the plate myself. It was dyno'd/mapped at P J mptorsport.

thanks everybody, feel right at home now.
Yeh the rear wing is a bit like marmite. I like it because its individual. Its got loads of other mods, fidanza flywheel,Helix clutch, rebuilt g/box, Diff etc.
Rob, emails were sent by accident, sorry mate (long story).

hello mate
I have tried various springs and my current wastegate is adjustable. I also changed the boost cont before.
Thinking might have something to do with my greddy rs bov not holding pressure or leaking.
Anybody have experience with these bov and would bov cause inconsistent boost levels?
Are there any known issues with these bov?
