  1. For sale; Getrag V161 Gearbox. I think it's a V161 not a V160. This is based on my memory of buying the gearbox on this forum probably 15 years ago. Also from a quick bit of research on the ole internet. Pics show the different webbing on the back section of the gearbox indicate its a V161. But please do your own research based off the attached photos of the actual box. This is from my Driftworks S15. I sold the car in 2012 and bought it back from Greece last year. It seems to have had extremely little use in that time. Mileage unknown. I have a feeling it was around 65k miles when I bought it. It's been in a drift car that wasn't road registered so it won't have done many miles in my ownership. I have always used it with a Carbonetics carbon fibre clutch. They are very gentle on engagement compared with normal multiplate clutches. I actually have a complete triple plate clutch and slave etc that can be included by negotiation if required. Seems to work fine, but I've not driven the car more than in first and second gear since buying it back as the fuel pipes were leaking and it's now in disassembly. It's had a crack professionally repaired on the top of the bell housing. See the last couple of pictures. Inspection / collection from Driftworks in Birmingham B11. I may consider palleting and shipping at the buyers cost and liability for loss or damage. The gearbox is sold with absolutely no warranty or return. Price - I'm told it's worth £8,000 as it sits. You are welcome to tell me it's not. Cheers Phil
  2. Toyota have come through! thank god. I'm £400 lighter in the pocket, but I think I have everything I need now .
  3. Fingers crossed Toyota pull through tomorrow. For the evening internet traffic though: If anyone can help with these parts I'd really appreciate it .
  4. We're removing the triple carbon Carbonetics clutch, and replacing it with an Exedy carbon triple, which means we need these standard parts from a 6 speed: clutch fork fork pivot, release bearing and carrier, slave cylinder any associated clips etc. If someone has these parts we can send someone to be with you today, as the car is on the ramp now and we're competing this weekend. Any help/advice on where we could get these parts would be great. We do have them on order from Toyota, but I cannot count on them coming through in time.
  5. Interesting thanks bondango . Although the culprit car has had multiple engines and ancillaries, always with the stock set up I will look into that. Ironically the car that has extra bracing on the pump, and actually has the alternator hanging off the same bracket as well doesn't blow seals.
  6. The fittings are Aeroquip, they are big enough and flow and cooling is good. We've had a few different racks as well. It's not just on one car, but on the main culprit we blew seals for a year, then fitted an underdrive pulley and didn't blow any for 6 months, then blew the engine and went back to a normal damped pulley and we started blowing seals again. We're not just replacing seals by the way, we are replacing pumps. I'm open to the idea of it being some other part of the system causing the failure, but with having no failures when using an underdrive pulley before, and a fast approaching new season. that's enough for me to purchase two damped underdrive pulleys at great cost
  7. It has crossed my mind, but I'm not sure it could withstand the pressures that drifting puts on the steering system. It's quite a lot of work to test and have it fail. Definitely not an option. The force need to pull a car off full lock when you have the amount of steering we do is ridiculous, and can actually be pretty dangerous when the steering gets stuck .
  8. It's because when you are on full steering lock at 100mph and 8000 RPM it seems some heavy curb clipping can add just enough back pressure on the rack to make the front seal on the pump very unhappy. It is very much a revs related problem though, as on my car that only revs to 7600 it doesn't happen so often, and when we used to run one of the cheapo undamped underdrive pulleys on the car that usually pops them all of the time, it didn't have a problem even at 8000rpm. We just don't want to use the cheapo pulley any more as it may have contributed to the early demise of one of our engines. Is that a 2JZ you're running at that RPM? that's impressive.
  9. I have and they weren't very helpful. They definitely don't do an underdrive damped pulley. No, there's no room unfortunately. The powersteering pump has no clearance at all, and this is the part we really need to underdrive as we've blown approx 10 pump seals. I'm sorted now anyway thanks guys. I asked on an Australian forum, and they pointed me at a product called Ross Tuffbond. I am having two damped underdrive pulleys manufactured as we speak .
  10. I've got a bit of deja vous here as I'm sure I've already asked this, but the search says no I'm not interested in the usual discussions on pro's and cons of underdrive, or aftermarket. I would just like to know if any of the companies out there make a damped underdrive crank pulley for the 2J? as my search results here and general google come up with nothing. Thanks Phil
  11. That's good to know thanks. I had a filter on the car that seemed to work fine at 572bhp. I've nicked it for my M3 though, so need a new one, and wanted to make sure I'm not restricting the engine now we're about to try running some boost.
  12. Hi guys. Can anyone offer any insight into air filter options for a genuine 700bhp? I need a single 100mm inlet filter. It's not a road car, so a stainless mesh type filter is fine if it saves me some space. Infact I'd prefer one as oiled filters are horrible to work around. Thanks
  13. Under what circumstances were all these engines killed? What components, who mapped them etc? We use 1JZ's at massive power in two of our competition cars, and I'm not kidding you when I say they are almost literally unbreakable.
  14. That's not the way it read and you know it. This is an extremely pointless nit picking argument by the way, so I'll leave you to it
