  1. I don't understand, why did you post that link?

Yes I think angel eye's are chavvy if you are just putting them on for looks, but I ain't putting them on for looks, I'm putting them on so that the vents in the front bumper become even bigger and I can get even more air into the cold air feed and coolers that lie behind. I will most likely NEVER run the angel eyes by themselves, so when they are off they will look just like the facelift rings.

PS, you will also find that when I make comments on peoples cars, if the car has large power, or has had a lot of work donw by the guy himself (two things that I rate very highly when looking at others cars) I have a greater tolerance of letting things go that I would otherwise pull to bits on cars that I have no respect for :)

I posted that link because it is about moving the indicators to replace the fog lights(or in the same place). Using LEDs or ordinary bulbs the principle is the same to me!

So your saying that fitting Angel eyes is OK if you want to remove the original indicators to allow more cold air in - but just to look different is Chav?

Bit two faced to me as it will still look like a BMW (as they were the first to use them)whether you justify it as a power upgrade or a styling exercise.

Look back at all the past trends - if you fit scissor doors to your car but because Lamborghini did it first your trying to make your car like a Lamborghini? or having rear lamps like a Lexus is just copying? and then there are the BMW M3/5 mirrors, Mercedes style repeaters in the door mirrors etc...do I need to go on?

People all want to stand out and have their cars look different but seems if one does it it then its pure chav but if someone else does it and gives a (valid) reason then its not? Why have every car looking the same as the other and not be able to personalise it? and if you choose a mod that finds disfavour with some, the label Chav is given?

By your remark in your PS I take it then that if someone who can do it themselves can do things you accept/tolerate things but if the poor sod with limited skills who has paid someone to do it (right) then they get condemned as Chavvy?

Oh what a cruel world we live it:rolleyes:

For the record I like Angel eyes,Lexus lamps M3 mirrors etc but whether I would use any/all of them on one car is unlikely as some things go and others dont and I say live and let live - if they like it then its their car and they can do anything they want without getting call a chav.

  2. Very nice Ric, do you think it would be possible to incorporate the facelift sidelight/indicator into that setup such that the first ring acts as a sidelight, and the fog rin flashes amber?

    Great idea.

    Is it possible, Ric?

    Oh how we forget http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?85256-front-fog-light-indicator-conversion&highlight=front+fog+indicators

plus I thought making your car look like an Audi or Bemmer was naff? or have opinions changed ...yet again Time was when people thought Halo/Angel Eyes or DRL on a Supra where big no nos

  3. Since I got my laptop fixed (another story)I cannot get on Facebook like I did before it crashed! Since the riots of 2009 here in the PRC you have to use a proxy and I use Ex Pat Shield which works for all other sites but FB :( and doesn't matter if I use Google Chrome, IE8 or Firefox just get a white page with 502 Bad Gateway Does anyone know a fix? I have cleaned the registry etc but no change! Why only FB I don't know :(

  4. Usually memory related, especially if it did that and now refuses to boot. If its got two sticks of the stuff, pop one out and give it a go, if that fails, swap it with the remaining stick.

    Two sticks of what....dynamite:eyebrows:

How do you know that keyboard is working fine if you have no display? o_O It's hard to diagnose from this bit of information, but usually when there is no display but keyboard is still self testing it means that either memory or graphic card packed up. Memory is not a problem, it's replaceable in laptop, worse with graphic card...

Reading the manual and pressing buttons gets various light from the keyboard but zilch from the display!

Reading said manual again there is reference to a Self Test before the HDD is started which seems to be my problem - is this an easy fix or not bearing in mind where I am:(

No display at all or does it display the bios before going blank as it boots windows?

Have you got a monitor you could hook up to it to test? remembering you will have to toggle the display from LCD to external

    Its totally blank

Have my desktop monitor and read how to toggle for external - will it work if the Self Test has failed?

  5. Usually memory related, especially if it did that and now refuses to boot. If its got two sticks of the stuff, pop one out and give it a go, if that fails, swap it with the remaining stick.

    Two sticks of what...dynamite :innocent:

Using the User manual I tried some things and got lights from the keyboard

Also from the manual. on boot up it apparently does a Self Test before switching on the HDD which sounds like my problem as it isn't - but how to fix though? + being in The PRC is not conducive to an effective repair - or is it?

  6. Hi, My Toshiba Satellite that I bought 2 years ago had been crashing more and more of late and 2 days ago I bit the bullet and re-installed the Vista operating system via the pre-loaded software.

This went fine but as it was considered a new system I had to load all the updates again and this is where I have the problem. Last night as I was loading new Toshiba and Window updates whilst watching the Top Gear Christmas special everything stopped with TG sounding like a record with the needle stuck :( - nothing would work so I hit the power button to switch off. On re-boot the keyboard works OK but no display!!

Anyone have any suggestions before I take it to a repair shop (which I would rather not as I don't trust Chinese workers using an English system and my limited spoken Chinese) as it maybe an easier fix than I hope!

  7. Looks tired and the front splitter is missing. Considering mine was £8500 from Jurgen I don't think it's that good of a deal.

    H.

You got a very good deal - as always from Jurgen. Thought a 99 with 30k recorded was cheap. Needs work granted but not that much

    Wheels are all wrong too.

Yeah, wheels seem a terrible choice and do the car no favours.A new set would make a big difference to the looks

  8. I think its going to need to be SVA approved as youve modified the front structure...

Not so, The SVA was replaced by the IVA in April 2009 and the regs relating to Exterior are only those as follows:-

    13. Exterior. Between the floor line and a height of 2 metres there must be no features likely to catch or increase the risk or seriousness of injury to any person who could come into contact with the vehicle. This like the interior is another large section that deals with radii and projections from the body, wheels etc.

    and for lighting:-

    9. Lighting. Check that all obligatory lights and reflectors are in the required positions, of the right colours, intensity and are visible at the required angles. There is a large section on visible angles and position of lights both for the obligatory and optional lights

Plus as Blues car is a 95 model and so over 10 years old no SVA or IVA testing is required and just a regular MOT needed. As there are many Chav'ed 106's and Saxos and the like with different lamps fitted its only the poor integrity of the builder that will get a fail

  9. Some you can also add:-

Abflug GTM Frt & Rear spats

Abflug Type R Frt & rear bumpers + skirts,

Abflug Revolve Frt & Rear bumpers + skirts,
