  1.

What kind of mpg do you get? This will help decide if you're a leadfooted spead freak and you just don't realise it or not!

I'm getting between 22 and 25 mpg (approx)

and I'm still on the front tyres I had on when I bought the car which still have plenty of tread - it's only the rears and I've now been trough 2 sets 1 pair of Kumho that lasted about 4000 miles and a set of Goodyears that have lasted 3000 miles.

  2. Nope definitely got Goodyear Eagle F1 Gs-D3, and I was concerned about only getting 4000 miles off the original Kumhos so I set the tripmeter etc. definitely got about 3000 out of these and am concerned that there might be something else wrong to put this much wear on - have just ordered some Kumho replacemnets as it'll give me a few extra weeks of life in the tyres !

  3. the wear is even across the tyres and it's both rear tyres althought the pasenger side is slightly worse (no tread at all) than the drivers side (.5mm)

I hadn't even thought about checking for tyre wear this early and so hadn't noticed them go ! it's only in the last week that I noticed the grip getting really poor - and now I know why

The suspension has been lowered and stiffened so I don't know whether this could throw things out ? and it's got stock traction control which has kicked in about 5 times since I owned the car....

It really doesn't sound right - I mean we're into motorcylce territory for tyres here ! and I can't afford to replace tyres every 3months !

  4. I had Kumho tyres on before (new on when I bought the car) and switched to Goodyear partly because they Kumho didn't last very long about 4000miles.

what would cause the car to be particularly heavy on rear tyres ?

  5. I put a couple of Goodyear F1s on the back of my Supra a few months ago, I have now done 5000Km (about 3000miles) and they are completely slick - now I don't drive particularly harshly and this has caught me completely by surprise, what sort of life are people getting from F1s ?

  6. you could always ask to see the damage :

if the disks are smooth and unscarred then they should be fine !

if they're doing the callipers under warranty then at least you would have some nearly new callipers to sell when you upgrade.

  7. did they give you the "sucking air through the teeth sound" you get before someone is about to rip you off ?

I've had this from garages before - took my car (not the Supra) to another garage who just replaced the pads and all was fine...

  8. yes that's the one I followed but I assumed that the reason you would get the bulb failure light showing was that you had 2 wires just cut and hanging which would change the resistance of that part of the circuit ! if this is correct then wiring another 2 relays in to the side where you just cut the wires would restore the circuit and stop the bulb failure warning (unless of course there was a bulb failure !)

  9. My Supra had one of those Halfords bolt on fog lights which my wife kindly removed by reversing into a large boulder !

I have been looking at the foglight conversion linked to on this site and have done that (at least partly) but was wondering whether if you repeated the circuit on both sides (so you end up using 4 relays) then this should stop any problems with the bulb warning light on the dash.

does anyone know why this wouldn't work ?
