I was there and watched as the tyres were fitted !
-
I believe they were fitted correctly and this has all happened between it's last service and it's oil change service which is now due ! so no nobody else has driven it !
-
Nope definitely got Goodyear Eagle F1 Gs-D3, and I was concerned about only getting 4000 miles off the original Kumhos so I set the tripmeter etc. definitely got about 3000 out of these and am concerned that there might be something else wrong to put this much wear on - have just ordered some Kumho replacemnets as it'll give me a few extra weeks of life in the tyres !
-
in oxfordshire it's difficult to tell the difference between on the road and off the road ! - in fact off the road probably has a better surface (certainky flatter)
-
I do 11 junctions each way so not a great deal.
and I really don't drive hard at all - can't drive hard for most of the journey as it's through 30mph zones and the rest is often behind a tractor !
-
the wear is even across the tyres and it's both rear tyres althought the pasenger side is slightly worse (no tread at all) than the drivers side (.5mm)
I hadn't even thought about checking for tyre wear this early and so hadn't noticed them go ! it's only in the last week that I noticed the grip getting really poor - and now I know why
The suspension has been lowered and stiffened so I don't know whether this could throw things out ? and it's got stock traction control which has kicked in about 5 times since I owned the car....
It really doesn't sound right - I mean we're into motorcylce territory for tyres here ! and I can't afford to replace tyres every 3months !
-
No wheel spin and very little hard driving - basically I only do about 30-40miles each day on A roads with a fair amount of traffic so I can't throw it around much anyway !
-
I had Kumho tyres on before (new on when I bought the car) and switched to Goodyear partly because they Kumho didn't last very long about 4000miles.
what would cause the car to be particularly heavy on rear tyres ?
-
I put a couple of Goodyear F1s on the back of my Supra a few months ago, I have now done 5000Km (about 3000miles) and they are completely slick - now I don't drive particularly harshly and this has caught me completely by surprise, what sort of life are people getting from F1s ?
-
I've been back to garages before (making sure I saw a different person) and asked them to guess the age of the component - before telling them that their garage had supposedly fitted it only a few weeks previously !
worked a treat !

you could always ask to see the damage :
if the disks are smooth and unscarred then they should be fine !
if they're doing the callipers under warranty then at least you would have some nearly new callipers to sell when you upgrade.
-
did they give you the "sucking air through the teeth sound" you get before someone is about to rip you off ?
I've had this from garages before - took my car (not the Supra) to another garage who just replaced the pads and all was fine...
-
thanks.
I did try doing a search but didn't come up with anything : obviously using the wrong search string !
-
I've just noticed that if I accelerate hard and then brake the main warning light and the handbrake warning light both flash on anyone know what this might be ?
-
if you look at http://www.mkivsupra.net under the technical section you will see a link to :
-
is this the sensor that also detects whether it's daylight ?
since when it's dark if you pull on the door handles it the interior lights go on - as doe the lights around the door and ingition key holes !
-
I just did the bottom ones - with a blow torch
it's wonderful! I can now hear the noises you want to instad of that damn squeak
-
yes that's the one I followed but I assumed that the reason you would get the bulb failure light showing was that you had 2 wires just cut and hanging which would change the resistance of that part of the circuit ! if this is correct then wiring another 2 relays in to the side where you just cut the wires would restore the circuit and stop the bulb failure warning (unless of course there was a bulb failure !)
-
My Supra had one of those Halfords bolt on fog lights which my wife kindly removed by reversing into a large boulder !
I have been looking at the foglight conversion linked to on this site and have done that (at least partly) but was wondering whether if you repeated the circuit on both sides (so you end up using 4 relays) then this should stop any problems with the bulb warning light on the dash.
does anyone know why this wouldn't work ?
-
there have been a number of threads which have discussed removing the dash and if you go to the TRL Performance website it tells you what you need to do - the main thing is to not turn the ignition on with the dash disconnected.
-
hmm, as far as I'm aware mine is stock J-spec TT and when I get to 4k I get a real kick in the pants ! ?
-
the joys of having an import (and no english handbook) I never new that ! very useful and I have about 2inches clearance at the front with the spoiler down !
-
I only have about 4inches clearance !!!!
-
I've never actually seen a lowered active spoiler ! does anyone know how much they come down ?

I'm getting between 22 and 25 mpg (approx)
and I'm still on the front tyres I had on when I bought the car which still have plenty of tread - it's only the rears and I've now been trough 2 sets 1 pair of Kumho that lasted about 4000 miles and a set of Goodyears that have lasted 3000 miles.
