A very Happy Birthday mate , I wont forget the massive favour .
-
If you do take a look at the Spires XKR Active exhaust , the car on YouTube and the other various clips, is the very car I bought 5 weeks ago . And its an XK / RS . I have a full serving history, along with the original bill of sale .It was first registered on a private plate 1000MS in September 2008 , but the extra bits that were added later in order to get it around the Nerburgring as rapid as possible , made it a very special motor regarding the Spires promotion of their Jaguar parts business .
-
Thanks guys for all the nice comments . As in the previous 30 years I will be going over to France , Belgium , Holland ect , for a couple of weeks doing road trips . I,m back around mid May, so I,ll report on how it performed .
-
I,m pretty sure the XKR 5.0 came in at 510 ( others say 502 ) , but the XK/RS 5.0 I have read comes in at 542 . This has something to do with the factory enhancements made to uprate it from the standard XKR to the XK/RS . But I could be wrong .
-
A little addition to the thread . The car is a 4.2 xk/rs NOT the 5.0 xk/rs . The difference in power is immense . Mine has a BHP of 416 and top speed of 174 . The 5.0 has a BHP of 542 and top speed of 186 , but getting to that speed is considerably quicker than mine .But what the hell I love it . And for anyone interested, this car I bought has AP brakes with air scoops behind the front bumper , and a rear diff cooler set up with air scoops facing forward . In its history it was bought new by Jaguar XKR specialists Spires , to compete around the Nurbergring .

Its always been my opinion that if you were to put the following cars, Mkiv Supra, Maserati 3200 gt, Jaguar xk 150, and the Aston Martin Vantage , nose to tail in a line, stand back 300 metres then looked at their profile , I don't think there,s much to differentiate between them . The mkiv Supra being the model that paved the way for others to follow .
-
Cheers guys , this particular model is the xk/rs . When it was first introduced to the UK market they only produced 50 in RHD and 150 in LHD giving a total of 200 ever made . So hanging on for this model was worth waiting for , and seeing that its only covered 30k miles from new I hope it keep it for a long time to come . But I will be coming back to Supra ownership in the very near future ( all depending on where we move to , and the size of garage , ..... it has to be big enough to house a few cars and a man cave ) LOL .

A couple of pics of the car I,ve just bought .

Could not sell my car on here for what I was asking , then Dnk stepped in and advertised it on PH . It sold to the first guy that came to see it for the full asking price this afternoon . A massive THANK YOU goes out to Dunk , and just goes to show the club spirit lives on . Beers on me when we meet up . Cheers mate;)
-
Hey Dunk , just read the ad on PH , much better lay out than I could have done . My total respect goes out to you . Cheers mate . ( legend )

Thanks for that !

That's it .

Ok guys , I am now in sh-t street with my missus , as she has just said virtually word for word what CW has just said , that all makes sense but my head is up my arse and did not want to go down that route as I would like it to stay here in the club. But as an old fart on here I am not totally compus mentus with selling cars on other sites ( as you can tell with my punctuation in this thread ) . So after my little spat with her indoors , I will see if I can get it advertised on other sites . And CW , of course I,m a serious seller , and as for a snipe at the Welsh I think that was made in jest .
-
Dnk , that's really nice to make me the offer but would you mind if I decline it at the moment, but I will ask you if you could do that favour for me in maybe 1-2 weeks time . I think that by then if I cant sell on here it will have to be seen by a larger number of people, but I still would rather it kept in the club. Once again thanks Dnk for your offer .
-
Hi guys , the points you are making are very logical and do make sense ( even though a bit hard to take ) . That having been said , I,m not devoid of any realism . A couple of members have said that at this time people might not have the funds to pay my asking price, which of course I take on board . I think that of the offers I have had 1) its an offer , 2) its all they can afford ,3) will I do a p/x . The thing is I paid decent money for it when I bought it ( which was possibly worth more at the time ) , and after the amount spent putting it in the condition it,s now in , I need to try to recover at least something of the money that's been lavished on it . And even £13k does not go anywhere near whats been ploughed in , hence the reason I,ll will accept a sensible offer lower than £13k . As for advertising it elsewhere , no its not for sale other than on here as I just do not want to see it go to someone who knows nothing about these fantastic cars and rags the nuts out of it , blows the engine , or raps it round a tree , even if I desperately need to sell , I cannot be that mercenary that money out weighs the respect I have for these magnificent motors .
