DamanC
Really really daft question, but i dropped a ratchet socket end into the abyss (aka somewhere in the engine bay) while agusting my drivers side headlight and at a guess it headed under my airbox. Obviosly i cant get to it and and have since driven the car but where is Mr Socket going to end up? rolling around on the undertray or can it escape? nige
jack the sup up remove a wheel then knock the under tray prefrably have a freind with you to look into the engine bay to let you know when it appears get a extendable magnetic thingy and pull it out ,sounds easy lol had the same prob dropped my keys down the front of the engine bay at the toyota garage ,felt a righr prick, but i just banged the under tray till it eventually appeared enough as get a hold of it with the magenet thingy
Jake
Was it a very expensive socket? I wouldn't go to a lot of bother to try finding a £3 socket. If you've driven the car it's probably bounced its way out from the undertray anyway.

markssupra
It might drop out, but I found a 10mm spanner down there that I lost about a year ago. Only found it last week while doing the cambelt.
