Correct way to remove/refit prop shaft?

I had a right old struggle getting my prop shaft off so I could sort out my torque converter today.

I undid the nuts at both end, undid the two bolts on the centre joint thing and removed that bracket between the centre joint and the diff (what's the bracket for anyway? It doesn't look like it does anything) but the propshaft was still jammed in there. I did manage to wrestle it out eventually but there must be easier way, isn't there?

no i think thats the way :rtfm:. had same probs. not to sure about the bracket but as a guess i think it will be useful incase your prop joint breaks. it will stop the propshaft from falling down, digging into the ground and fliping the car over
