hadyn
Im currently running this in my Supra, does anyone consider this a too 'thick' oil for everyday driving?
Guest chiefvinso
I wouldnt say so as it gets thinner when warmed up and with the summer time. Maybe as it gets colder you should go for a thinner oil, but I'm no expert on the supes at the mo. I would say that you are playing it safe but if you want quicker drag strip times using thinner will help.
neo1
Do a search.... This topic has been round and round in circles. Seems the general view is Silcoline 5-50 weight oil is best and its a true synthetic as well. I think your oil is in the same ballpark... General view is to avoid 0 weight oil as it creeps past oil seals here there and everywhere.

hadyn
Im just asking as I seem to be getting a thicker spray from the BOV than the previous oil i was using (the stuff chris wilson puts in)
SkyJawa
Nowt wrong with Mobil 1 Motorsport. I used it in my Supe and IIRC its what Dude used when he serviced peoples cars!
oilman
It's ok for summer and for a track car but for an everday driver a 5w-40 would be more suitable. A 10w-50 would give better winter cold start. Cheers Simon

Cheers Simon Simon, as a daily driver you recommended 10/50 to me for mine... 70% of my journeys are in stop and go traffic in London, rest is on the motorway and the occassional blast..... That is what I run in mine. The Mobil 1 Motorsport is a good oil too.
oilman
IMI, You can use either but stock cars don't really need the 10w-50 unless you're doing the odd track day or 1/4 mile. 5w-40 has better cold start properties in the winter months but both being ester, there is always a layer of oil in the engine so cold start is not such a problem.
