Running hot???

Hello, New to supras and new to the site , so be gentle with me :) . Just bought a 93 TT Man and love it!. Sold a 320bhp Starlet 1.3 Turbo which was manic but just love the supra

My question (first of many) is the coolant temp. Upon starting from cold the gauge rises quite quickly and you can feel the top hose warming up. After a 5 minute run the cars smells quite hot but the gauge never goes above half. When stopped the rad is hot , top hose is hot, bottom is cool. Have flushed the rad and seems to be flowing fine. The car has a Greedy FMIC. Is this ok or is there a problem.... Cheers for any advise

Yes this is normal. The car gets up to temp fairly quickly, and stays there. The temp needle will stay exactly in the middle. Mine does anyway! I have occasionally thought "hmmm I wonder if someone has stuck a resistor in there!" but i'm sure it's perfectly normal.
