Is placing a downpipe the same as removing first cat? Or schematic is the way turbo - downpipe - 1st cat - 2nd cat........ or is it turbo - 1st cat - 2nd cat ? Car is an auto TT Jspec for as far that makes any difference When people say remove the first cat they are referring to the downpipe. A de-cat pipe is to remove the restrictive cat. The turbos both connect to a turbo elbow (to join both of the exhaust streams). The elbow connects to the 1st cat, the 1st cat connects to the 2nd cat and the 2nd cat connects to the exhaust. The only reason it's called a "down pipe" is because it directs the exhaust gas downards so that an exhaust can be connected up.
