miko_supra
Made some new shifter linkage bushes today. MVP do something similar where they replace the old toyota bushes with solid ones for $90, and after reading someones post of supraforums on what a difference they make i decided to have a bash at making some myself. When i got the gear shifter linkage out i could literally push the bushes apart with my finger they were so old and knackered. The outer metal part of the ring was firm in and needed tapping out. New bushes i just made out of solid ally and were a press fit. I used the original bolts for the new bushes All fitted! I was able to test it out with my gear knob that i made a couple of months ago too Final verdict=GOOD! The gear selection seems so precise and tidy now without fear of missing a gear change

miko_supra
good effort mate, i think i would have gone with brass though i had considered brass, but i didn't have any the right size. The bolts have a tight fitting tubed plastic insert too so the aluminum should be fine
Guest cj748
Good job mate. Nice to see homers, so much more satisfying. (I can get you brass/copper etc up to if needed.) CJ
Chris Wilson
It's amazing how much better the change is with solid bushings in the extension, isn't it? Nice, sometimes little things make BIG differences. If you made a temporary longer gearknob, to make the gearstick effectively about 2 inches longer, I always feel the change is nicer still.
