Supra-Woman
How unlucky would i be to have bolts snap when taking off my wheel??
marc_p
very, how many have snapped off? you make it sound like it's more than one.
Supra-Woman
None have snapped off yet, but they are jammed. As far as i know its just one wheel, but i havent been to see the car since it was sprayed. They have tried a socket and bar but it keeps bending, they have asked the mechanic from another unit to take a look and he reckons there is a 20% chance of snapping, just wanted to know if it is really that likely. marc_p
It'll just be wound on tight from an air ratchet probably, I had this problem once and needed an air ratchet to get it off again.
Supra-Woman
Thanks Marc, according to the mechanic even with an air rachet there is a chance of snapping, but i cant see how as it takes the strain off the nut itself.
marc_p
Well if it snaps off from an air ratchet then it snaps off, to be honest I can't see any other way of getting it off but it is an easy fix if it does snap, I'm sure Chris Wilson has some spare studs and there not too hard to replace but it might not even snap and if it does it'll be okay for the time being as you still have four studs left and as yours is an N/A like moi's it won't be put under to much strain. Supra-Woman
NPmsl, mines under no strain at the mo, still sat in the workshop. I want the wheels off to be refurbed and painted ready for selling so i can get myself some alloys that will suit the new colour.
mplavery
This is caused alot by mechanic using air guns in the first place with wheels, they always do them to tight with the air guns
stuohy
I recently replaces the wheel studs on my front wheels; they are very cheap from Toyota (about £10 for 5 iirc), and took me about an hour to fit (bear in mind I'm not that technically minded either). Supra-Woman
Its the rear wheel that is stuck.
marc_p
It's a similar process but I do believe you have to take the drum off which can be a PITA but the studs should be the same price. p.s. any more pics of the supra must be almost done by now.
