VIL
One for the tech guys. A while ago I had an intermittent issue with my auto box. Sometimes when I started up the car and took it out of P and into Drive there was no engagement of the box. ie it was like finding a false neutral on a manual? I had to drag the stick up and down L, 1, 2, D etc until it engaged or turn of the ignition and try again? At its worst the box would find Drive and as you pulled away would shudder and stall (and on an auto thats pretty unfunny when you pull into oncomming traffic!) :thumbdown I attributed this to poor/or low gearbox oil and had it changed. Funnily enough this seemed to cure the problem for quite a while (8/10 months ago), however a few weeks back it happened again which makes me think it could be a sensor, selector, the gearbox oil needs changing again etc? NB, a side effect to this happening was that the orange slip control light would start to flash and would only re-set once the car ignition had been turned off then back on? Any thoughts
secondjump
Could be a dodgy speed converter or as in my case when I had the same symptoms, a corrupt odo problem.
VIL
Cheers for that, what did you do to sort it out?
secondjump
Emin - a member on here, did an electrical bypass on one of the odo's curcuit wires.
VIL
Ok, and that cured it? How did you diagonose where the problem was in the first place?
secondjump
Well I knew it was speed sensor related due to a code 42 on a diagnostic check. I changed the converter to a thor unit which didn't alleviate the problem so it only really left the odo as the source of grief.

TLicense
Auto Box Selection Problem Shouldn't be an issue. They only did one. Sorry couldn't help it!
