  1. I have some high res pictures of the engine bay at work so I will do some zooming in and see I can see if anything was attached in the first place next week. Jake - the melted piston is now by PDA screensaver, just to remind me of what can happen when you mess with the supe Happy chappy for the moment
  2. OK!!!!! Well the reset has definately cleared the black smoke issue - I drove like a nun (again) for ten minutes to let her warm up and then slowly bit by bit built up boost, no smoke, no hesitation - infact the tickover is smoother than it was before I had this issue I'm hoping I got away with this little episode, anything else I should check when I get her back to my mechanic?? The only thing I would say is that it smells like it's running a little rich, but I guess that's just the ECU finding it feet after a reset. Thankyou evryone who commented - it's been a very up and down 24hrs, I love my supra and this is the first problem I have had. Great show guys and I owe some beer tokens :respekt:
  3. Ok off to reset and drive (need some more ciggies after all this scarey talk of melting pistons) - Can I do a compression test myself, I know what they are but have clue how to do them myself ... Thanks for all the helpful suggestions so far, you have all been great
  4. That's the odd thing, it's accelerating fine - boost guage back to normal, just worried about this black smoke, I've always prided my car on the fact it produced very little smoke.
  5. I think I had just put my foot down to overtake and then realised the car wasn't accelerating and started to get worried. Hmmm problem is I need to get the car back to Ipswich and I'm in london, I guess driving it is a seriously bad idea??? Bugger - double bugger
  6. I am BPU and the leak only happened on M25 last night and I drove like a nun after it happened and haven't driven it since except to test capping off fix It's now fine but I'm getting black smoke when the turbo's kick in
  7. The boost guage is plumbed straight into the circled 3 way valve in the below picture and then going to what I presume is where it should be plumbed in in the first place (re Johns picture): http://www.compass-systems.co.uk/celica/valve2.JPG
  8. Just been thinking about it (duh) what you mean (using john's picture) that take the three way out and plug it straight into where indicated in the picture? What about the black smoke I'm getting when the turbo's spool up? I'm worried now
  9. Hmmm not quite sure what your saying John, but it has been leaking and now I'm getting black smoke when the tubbies kick in (overfueling?) - I've stopped driving it for the moment, she runs fine now but is just blocking it off ok? I do have an SSQV dump valve but believe it doesn't go to that pipe, I don't think any pistons are melted (I hope) and it seems to be overfueling (or was before I blocked off the pipe as it stunk of petrol) Bear in mind I'm no great mechanic so maybe putting any comments in laymans terms would help
  10. Following on from my other thread (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=58060), we had concluded that I may have a split pipe or a pipe that had come loose. I was trying to get the car to Whifbitz but couldn't risk it (thanks to Paul if he reads this, who offered to help ) Finally found the problem: http://www.compass-systems.co.uk/celica/closeupvalve.JPG It is a three way connector that only had two pipes attached, as soon as I put my finger over the open end the revs stabilised, so I have capped it off for now. My Question is, surely there wouldn't be a three way pipe without a third pipe, I've looked everywhere for a hanging down pipe but to no avail, as far as I can see one pipe goes to my boost controller the other to the throttle body - what else would be plugged into it? Some more pics: http://www.compass-systems.co.uk/celica/valve2.JPG http://www.compass-systems.co.uk/celica/valveinside.JPG http://www.compass-systems.co.uk/celica/rightvalve.JPG Hope someone can shed some light on this
  11. Nope - doing now, then I will try phoenix, whifbitz is defo closer though.... Thanks guys
  12. I thought that but he doesn't work on saturdays, I tried calling him a minute ago.... anyone else out there we trust that I can see?
  13. Ummmmm - seems a pipe has split on my poor supra but don't have the tools at my London place to fix it Does anyone know of a garage in North London I can visit today to get it sorted? The problem is decribed in the technical section in this link: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=58060 I think it's one of the IC pipes but there isn't enough space to try and push back on..... So if anyone has any contacts I would be seriously grateful, I have a meeting on Monday and really need to get her boosting again to get there Thanks people
  14. that's what I'm thinking, I bloody hope so, I can't live without boost
