michael
I would personally go for a 2005 prius. But thats just me, Why? They cost a fair bit, the fuel economy is nothing special and they look stupid.

_Lynz_
We've been looking at the 2ltr A3. What year is yours? 2004 but it's a 53 plate, you get a lot of car for your money but they do seem to hold their price. I looked at the sport but they had high mileage so just went for the 2.0l TDI in the end and tart it up myself.
AndyT
The Gov doesn't price diesel at average 6p a litre more than petrol for no reason Red. It's to offset the savings made by using diesel motors...
r88sch
iv just bought a brand new astra sportshatch for work, after adding a little toy should be getting as my mate quoted me 800miles on a tank give or take 50, he had the chip on his b4 he sold it, plus 0-60 in justover 6.5sec for a diesel aint bad either
Scott
Your mate is talking out of his rear end mate (trying to keep it polite) For a start it doesn't matter what you do to a fwd oil burner you are going to spin like a byatch off the line coz of the torque. The 6.5 seconds is as much of a laugh as 800 miles for a tank is. Unless of course this was on a 45 degree incline and the tank holds 100 litres. Scott
Just had a look... 8.3 0-60 52l Fuel Capacity 150bhp 315nm Torque 130mph Top Speed 48mpg With Chip 189bhp 397nm of Torque Fuel efficiency 5-10% Now, granted it will help a bit after 2nd gear but there is no way that 2 seconds is going to be lost from the 62mph. The fuel... Maximum increase of 10% = 53mpg The tank holds 52l which is 11.5 Gallons = 600 miles (if you drive like my gran) Scott =op
mathew
Funny you should ask that. Me and Ash were just talking to a new guy here at work who's got an 07 plate diesel Civic. It's chipped to 320 ft-lbs and still does 40mpg ! It cost less than £400 to get it chipped too. I'm seriously considering one. i went to see one ofthese a few days ago. a nice black 2.2 s-type and like the starship enterprise inside:cool: . really liked it and am thinking of one after xmas. a friend got his 320cd remapped with these dudes.. http://www.angeltuning.co.uk ..and he was really pleased with their work so if i do get a civic il be heading there pretty sharpish:)
Soop Dogg
Angie has an Audi A6 1.9Tdi which I reckon has one of (if not the best) diesel engines out there. The A6 is a big car, but the engine certainly isn't underpowered and the car is bigger and more luxurious than an A4. And because it's a bigger car, it's also a cheaper second hand buy than an A4. She pays £65 to fill up from when the light comes on @ £1.06/litre. (meaning 61.32 litres or as near as dammit 13.506 gallons) which normally gets her 625 miles. This works out as an average of just over 46mpg. This is NOT motorway driving (We live in Norfolk for goodness sake!) mainly her mileage is on B-roads and is stop start as she goes from client to client all day. When the car was newer, we did manage over 54mpg on a motorway cruise, keeping it around 70mph. (Over 700miles on a tank) The car has done over 166,000 miles now and is stil going strong. HTH.
