Guest shaqs
ive had a on going problem with my supra this week, first what happend was the rear lights, brake lights, windows elec seat and dash lights stop working, which wasnt much of a major issue because i knew it be somthing to do with a fuse or electrical problem. so anyway i started it up today and noticed my rear fog light switch was on when i turned it of all of a sudden everything was working again, i went to the garage when i got bak in it stop working again so i flicked the switch and nothing happened. so when i got home it wouldnt put the windows up, ive gone to start it again and nothing happens now, the alarm gose off but soon as i push the buttons on the remote that stops and the immob light gose off but it still wont start. i ve managed to get it in the garage. please can anyone advise me. be greatfull for any information............ kylestt
Does it crank over but just not start? Or is it clicking when you hit the starter?
Guest shaqs
i checked the ones in the footwell but still no joy, nah it dosn't crank over u can hear the relays clicking but u cant hear the starter mtr clicking or nothing. the only weird thing is that it started up fine then i drove it to the garage put some petrol in then the lights started playing up again, but no problem starting, its only when i got home that it wouldnt start, all the lights are bright even when u try to crank it over but thier is nothing, its got a clifford g40 alarm, when i press the button the red light gose off, so i asume the immobiliser is working, i assume i would have had tell tail signs of the starter motor going. ive had a look by the footwell fuse box and their is wires eveywhere........... Guest Jason-B
Theres a fuse box high up in the drivers footwell, you can only see it if you stick your head in the footwell, its got a black cover, 4" x 3" and underneath are loads of fuses. If your rear fog light comes on like you've described i would hazard a guess that its the culprit causing your electrical gremlin, I assume you have a j-spec and its an aftermarket foglight? Guest shaqs
easy jas, is that the one on the drivers side because if it is ive checked that, yes mine is a j-spec tt, and it has a aftermarket foglight, ive taken off the trim under the steering wheel and it looks like a jungle in their. With these cars coming on to 15 years old, wiring looms are starting to be past their best with bad earths/corrosion etc.
Guest shaqs
tell me about it., i never had this problem with my 95 m3 though, its just one of those things i suppose, well ive just got it to my mates garage down the road, and his gonna sort it out, but when he disconected the negative lead of the batt and put it back on it made a funny noise and he thinks its has a short some where. he said he is gonna check the basics first, then the alarm, cause it dont look like it was installed good, neither is the amp and box ( which i didnt fit ). he said it mite be the starter too. anyways fingers crossed and he will sort it.
