Recommended Posts

just a quicky , when ric made my web site for me , i found that i was in the top 3 if someone was looking for valeting in swansea .

but over the months ive dropped down and down , asked about this but was told that google constantly move the top 3 around .

i get a call just now from a company called lavore marketing , this guy guarantees me top listing , and offered to prove it providing id take up the offer .

so does this sound ok or is it BS, only i would like to get back to the top of the listing if possible .

any other advice would be welcomed.

thanks peter

Yeah - you can get priority display on Google by (a) manipulating the website content to tailor it to Google's prioritisation checks or (b) paying Google for advert space.

There are 1,000,001 "Web Marketing" companies out there who will help you with the first option, and also re-sell the advertising space to you if you let them. So make sure you shop around if you're really interested.

Alternatively, and my recommendation if your at least a little bit web-savvy is have a quick go at the first one yourself. There are plenty of websites out there and even books you can buy which can explain simple changes you can make to your site to improve its ranking in the Google results.

There are a few complexities in there, like ranking based on "incoming" links, which are hard to manipulate yourself (this is where a marketing company may help by finding other high-visibility websites which can link in to yours), but a lot of the stuff you can do to improve your ranking is pretty straightforward.

Have a quick search and you'll find plenty of sites out there with some tips and pointers.

Google search results are displayed through Googles 'Page Rank' system which is always being updated to display the freshest and 'most accurate' results out there.

Check your websites page rank here: http://www.checkpagerank.com/

You are aiming for 5+ really, but it depends what your competitors page rank is. Check theirs too.

Do a search for improving pagerank. Good luck!

6/10

Thats pretty good going! So if you have no problem there then it must be keywords, content, meta tags.

Make sure your keywords that you want to come out top for are littered throughout your sites content, title, sub-titles. try to make all the text on the website in header tags (H1, H2, H3 etc) rather than normal text, Make sure the 'alt' for all your images is filled in with relavant information and also check your websites code conforms to W3C standards here:
