Volume control on PC

CJ

Recommended Posts

I am confused. If I play music CD through my PC the volume is very loud. If i play a downloaded file, it is very loud and yet trying to play back a bona fide DVd of the Lost series has me turning the volume up full and still straining to hear the dialogue.

I have checked the levels in the control panel - sounds etc and have turned them up fully. I am missing something here? I have the problem no matter what programme I play the DVD on too - Real, VLC etc.

Are you using the same software to play everything or a specific one for DVDs?

I am using Real Player for all of them. I was using Power DVD for the DVD (with the same low volume result) but that was a trial version and I am yet to find a "shareware" version.

Here you go mate, this program will run just about any file you throw at it, including DVD's and it is free.

Thank you again my old mate.

Strange this. I downloaded an episode of heroes this afternoon and just sat down to watch it and that is playing very loud too. I wonder if it may just be the DVD's?

There are separate levels for various audio playback types Col.

Have you checked the settings for ALL the levels when you double click the volume control? Go "Advanced" and make sure all the relevant ones are visible.

It's also worth checking the audio settings (not just the volume) in Power DVD too.
