squeak from getrag or clutch assy?

When on idle and the car is warm i can hear a squeak from under the car. Its not there all the time and if i blip the throttle gently it goes, sometimes it comes back and sometime not. It not from the engine as ive been under it and can hear nothing. deffinatly seems like bell housing area.

Do you think there is a new breed of mouse thats as hard as my getrag?

P.s. Also sounds similar to a pulley sqeak (but its not)

bit too tech for me there sorry.. all i can tell you is what the guy who looked at mine told me.. " your flywheel is f**ked " .. he said there are two parts to it with springs in it and they are worn or weak and now there is alot of play in it.. I used to also hear it knocking when i switched off the engine for a split second.. a new one cost me €530 think its about £350 sterling from toyota, ouch.. have not fitted it yet.. hopefully you get better answers soon

Hi edge, i don't think the DM flywheel can be skimmed. I would reccomend that you change both the clutch and pressure plate as soon as possible as to not damage the flywheel.

its the thrust bearing mate, i bet if you press the clutch pedal approx an inch or two it stops and if you press fully and release by letting it spring up by sliding your foot off the pedal. i have exactly same thing, had it checked, its so bugging but the clutch is fairly recent and still bites at the bottom so i wouldnt worry about it.

have you checked that the squeeking isnt the AUX belt. the one that drives the power steerings, ect ect?

Also, There is a thread on sticky gear changes, might be worth swapping you gear box oil. Try this first before moving on.

Thats what im doing :(

I have pressed the clutch sitting in traffic to see if it went but didnt make no noticable difference, but i will give that ago. ;) It only passed as a maybe as all the thrust bearings ive heard dont normaly squeak

Yeah i will be putting new oil in before she goes back on the road.

Its definatly nothing to do with belts or pulleys as they are not more than 600 miles old and i have checked them. Definatly box area.
