chainy
Can someone confirm that if i remove the speed limit defender that is fitted to the car just now, the speed will then be limited back to 112mph without the need to add any other gizmo. The reason i am thinking of removing the SLD is that the speed o dial has 112mph on the outside and 180kph on the inner part. who ever de limited the car has stuck a mph sticker on the kph part of the dial but it is way out by at least 10mph at 30 and gets worse the faster i go. Now i dont do any track days or go near the 112 anyway so having it limited is not a problem i just want the dial to be more accurate and to also use the existing dial with the mph on the outer edge and just remove the current sticker from the kph. I hope this all makes sense to at least 1 person out their that can help. I have no idea of what SLD is fitted hope that dosnt make any difference
SteveR
Your thinking is pretty much right, yes. Find the how to delimit & speedo convert guidew I did and work backwards - let me know if I can help Finding out where your delimiter is shouldn't be too much of an issue, start at pin 2 of your ECU and find out where that goes. Removing the chip won't be hard, but reconnecting all the wires could be. My advice is - don't remove anything until you've done a full assessment of the job (i.e. found all the snipped wires & decided if you can rejoin them all). bodilx6
Bear in mind that different speed limiters are installed in different ways to my knowledge. I know of some which needs wires to the speedo cut and so forth. Not that I have done it my selv but my techie told me.. Also, depending on what the previous owner has done beware of messing with the speedo. If you for some reason should get the needle moved on its axis or so, you'll have a difficult time readjusting it.

How else would you adjust the speedo signal, if you don't alter it buy cutting the wire and replacing it with a different signal? The reason I suggested looking at pin2 on the ECU first, is becuase the ECU is relatively accessible (i.e. doesn't involve removing the dash) and is very easy to see if it's been altered - there'll be an extra wire chopped into the loom.
