Cold start/idle

Damn the cold weather.

Noticed the car is taking a few more cranks to fire up but I think that'll be the new Denso IK22's.

The thing thats bothering me is the miss on idle when cold.(improves when warm)The revs are fairly steady but its like a bump bump bump through the car and you hear it missing with each bump.

Things about the car:-

It started doing it with the platinum plugs.

I've fitted 6 new coilpacks in the spring.

Fitted 6 new coilpack clips last year.

Become more noticable running TTC.

More noticable again with the centre decat fitted.

Is there anything else I can check or clean?

Its not a crank position sensor is it or would I know really know about it if it was.

Would a faulty injector show up as subtle as this?

I ran through the search but couldnt find anything.

Cheers

Mike

Have you tried some IK 24's?

I havent mate no. I fitted the Ik22's after doing nearly 20k on the stock platinums and they seemed like a good solution to being just about stock.

What I did notice with the IK22s is that the car is much easier to stall when pulling away and needs more revs but it feels great on boost.

Hi mate, know the very same feeling, mines been doing it especially when damp, revs up to around 2000rpm when cold then when coming down to around 1200/1000 it starts missing, as you said it goes right thro the car, when warm it goes ! when leaving work i join on to a duel carriage way put my foot down to gather speed and as if the car is shuddering a while a strange vibration thro the car, then it goes ! STRANGE. mines an n/a

Seems like one of those annoying problems that need left to get worse if they ever do before finding out the fault.

The cars annoying me in general at the moment, feels unsteady in a straight line, tramlining even got bump steer.:(

If yours is an NA mate when did you last check the rotor arm and cap?

had the car a year now, so it's a major service i think before the old cold weather kick's in, so hopefully it'll cure the problem, i had exactly the same problem with my vtec prelude, but couldn't find problem.:search::search:

I know it cured my NA when it used to start on 4 or 5 cylinders especially if it had sat for a week or so.

Mine today sat at the lights when warm gave what was like a massive cough and judder. Might have to have another going over all the ignition stuff but i'm not convinced as the cars sweet as a nut on the road.

Good luck with yours mate.:)

There's no check engine codes?

I'm thinking it could be something to do with the coolant or inlet air temp sensors.

Not that I know of. I've never checked for codes before does the engine or triangle dash light come on when codes are live?

Ahh just searched the FAQ, I'll need to see if there are any stored codes.
