6 Speed Gearbox problem.

Just had the car returned after 2 months away getting fix after an accident, problem is I now have a noisy gearbox.

Basically what happens is when coming down in gears from 3rd to 2nd the gear stick vibrates and makes a noise, which sounds like its at the rear of the car.

Now this only happens from 3rd to 2nd at high/mid revs around 4000 revs, doesn't happen in any other gear and it's only on the downshift. At low revs it doesn't happen either.

You can floor it in 1st through to 2nd hit 6000 revs then lay off and no vibration or noise, only happens coming down from 3rd to 2nd.

Other than that the gearbox and car drive fine.

Annoying thing is the gearbox had no problems when I handed it over or before the accident

Any ideas?

Andrew

Glad to hear car is back in action, take the car to a clutch specialist to get it checked or perhaps get an independant engineer to give the car the once over to check all is straight and correct following the repair?

Hope all is sorted soon then i think a pint may be in order?

Cheers Dave, yeah they have done a good job.

I'll take your advice and get someone to look at it, be very suprised if it is the gearbox after reading about how sturdy they are.

Hopefully it's the clutch then.

Catch up with you later mate, and yeah arrange a beer soon :)
