jamesmark
I was bored today at work and decided to see what insurance quotes were like on one of the possible cars I am considering to replace my Supra I just sold. Utter garbage insurance is, I used following details for both Quotes using Confused.com 29 2 years NCB 6 points 1 claim (not driver fault) car kept on drive CAT 1 and alarm 2k mileage limit First quote 1998 Subaru WRX Sti worth £7,000, Cheapest premium = £2.243.45p Second quote (out of interest) 2004 Subaru WR1 (I think this is the fastest most powerful Scooby?? stock) £18,000 Cheapest quote = £1,415.87 It is MAD!!! Snooze
I think you'll find that based mainly on the statistics of WRX Sti's crashed vs WR1's crashed, you'll probably find that the WRX owner is considerably more likely to be involved in an accident than the WR1 owner. Insurance companies are really just statistic-based profit-making machines - how that calculates out on an individual basis may seem crazy, but it's all based around the statistical algorithm that they use to maximise their profits. If you're the type of person with £18k ready to spend on a 2004 WR1, then you're probably statistically less likely to stack into something expensive (like an office building, eh? ) than the buyer of a £7 STi...... robin
I think alot of it is based on accident and theft rates. Maybe the newer subarus are in richer or more caring hands then the older ones? What is even more stupid is I am 21, 2 years no claims and no points. A uk spec TT is 900 quid while a jspec is 2400?!

I dunno it is all wierd lol
