de cat advice on boost

from what i understand you should be fine if you still have one cat in! if you remove the other then j-spec are prone to overboosting but you can get away with putting in a restrictor to limit the boost until you get a boost gauge and then your boost controller.

I just had mine fully decatted at last!!! :-)

Ok - with one cat out I was hitting 1.5bar boost.

I do not have an FCD and the ECU looks stock, so who knows why there was no fuel cut.

Got down to 1.2 with a CW restrictor ring. Now that I am fully decat, I'm starting to hit 1.4 on cold days (with the restrictor ring in place). Guess I need a tighter ring (insert joke here).

I would recommend a boost guage as I could of been driving around at 1.4 for a while.

Erm yeah without...hmmm....it's voltage driven. When the ECU reads a specific voltage from the MAP sensor it shuts off the fueling...FCD's clamp the signal so it never (or delays) reaches that voltage. However an aftermarket ECU like a Mines has the FCD integrated into it.

Bit confused about you hitting 1.5bar...

Does seem strange, maybe he was using the boost gauge of his BMX hand pump:p Graduations in 0.5 Bar increments:p

A real cheap and shitty pressure gauge thats had some abuse would do the trick.

So am I!!

Is it possible to tamper with/reprogramme the stock ECU? This is what it looks like:
