dangerous brain
Not on me aristo but on my range rover. I fitted aftermarket plug leads a while ago. My fuel consumption has dropped drastically from 21 mpg to 15 mpg for no reason. Occasionally it comes back up to 21 or 17.5 ish. Now at first I suspected binding brakes but I also suspect its losing a spark on one or two cylinders. Is there any way of testing the spark on my plugs without taking them out as I would like to know which is the dodgy lead connection if it is that. Removing the plug won't help if its an intermittent connection problem. Suggestions please
merckx
I've used one of these in the past. http://www.nfauto.co.uk/ignition_tester.htm
dangerous brain
Well I have a tester that can tell if there is electricity in the lead itself. I'm not sure this would help as disconnecting the leads and reconnecting them might mask the problem until it happens again sometime. I may get some just to have them though. I was hoping there was some trick way of knowing if I was getting a spark without taking anything off the car.
