Phil Irwin
Alarms and immobilisers seem to break the same circuits - starting and ignition. With the fitters doing the job within a time scale, the easy option is to cut the circuits at the back of the ignition switch. I read a posting here describing how a Supra was nicked in 50 seconds although it was fitted with a Clifford cat 1. The starter relay is under the bonnet so easy to by pass the immobiliser. However, if the alarm (or a secondary immobiliser) had been cutting circuits to the ECU inside the car, that would have slowed the thieves down. So the question is which circuits without doing any damage?

Guest Ash
Was it CAT 1? Plus, when you say "Clifford CAT1 Alarm" you have to ask yourself which model Clifford? That information was not forthcoming from the post in question. A Clifford 600, for example, with a correctly installed wireless fuel-cut with anti car-jacking enabled is VERY difficult to start and drive away. With cheaper alarms and/or installs you pay a little less... but take a big chance. Yours, J (Edited by Ash at 8:38 pm on Mar. 29, 2002)
