chilly
Everytime it rains...which seems like everyday since xmas, I lose reception on my Sky. The picture breaks up and keeps freezing. Its doing my nappa in. I have not been able to watch the F1 or Cricket today. Does anyone have any ideas...Is it weather related or possibly a dish/cable problem? JustGav
Alignment could be slightly out, or your LNB could be starting to fail... I know my neighbour has the same issue everytime it rains, the weight of the gutter pushes the dish out slightly...
Soonto_HAS_soop
Happens to mine everytime I get really heavy rain or lightening. Can always check what your reception quality is like through the services : System setup : signal test screen.
Steve
Your dish may not be 100% aligned properly. But in heavy rain you will experience picture loss/break up.

chilly
Looks like the cable going to the LNB is frayed. Can it be replaced or is it a new dish? Do Sky replace these?
ivan
Sky will fix it but will no doubt charge you at least a £60 call out fee. See if you can pull a bit of slack through and cut off the frayed end. The connector is screw-on and easy to fit. You'll need to allow a bit of slack to make a hanging loop so water doesn't get into the connection and waterproof the connection with some electrical tape. ivan
NP. BTW, if you need to test the signal or adjust the dish position: Drape a tea towel over the dish Loosen the bolts Move the dish slowly while someone else watches for the best picture quality Tighten off Recheck picture Remove tea towel The reason for the towel is that it's easier to see when a poor quality picture need adjusting than a good one. merckx
Insulation tape isn't that good for outdoor stuff. Self amalgamating tape is what you need. The reason for the towel is that it's easier to see when a poor quality picture need adjusting than a good one. Makes sense.

ivan
Self amalgamating tape is what you need.Self amalgamating tape is what I've got. But the chances of Chilly having any are pretty slim I would think. A good workaround is to stretch the last wrap of electrical tape as you press it down hard. Then heat it with a lighter so the top layer welds to those underneath. Years of practice.
