Chiefgroover
Think its a lightweight fly, but not sure until its out. Mileage unknown, I inherited it with the car, but I doubt its done more than 20K

Chiefgroover
Just doing things my own way, as i didnt enjoy the car as it was. Big changes, but at least I'll have the car close on exactly how I want it. Its been a long road to replacing the silver car, with many nights into the wee hours bewteen now and the end of the month. Wez
Fair enough, each to there own as they say but surely would have been far better to start with a stocker. I am curious though, what didnt you like about it and what exactly are you after as for a while that motor was a benchmark for others to build too. Chiefgroover
I dont wish to run down Terrys old motor, or the std of work done on it, so I will aviod answering that question, sorry mate. Here is what i am creating in my rebuild of this car. "Fast, smooth, very quiet, trackday, beautiful, de chavved, rattle and squeak free even on the worst roads, fine audio SQ style without taking over the whole interior, motor car." (Yeah all in one breath lol) Just trying to recreate the old silver car, however it will never have the awesome sound of the big twins that I loved so much. The car will be a bit of a sleeper with very few things to give away its level of tune. I prefer to draw as little attention as possible with it on the road, pays off when you are heavy footed. Your a long time AEM user, I remeber you back in 02 or 03 was it on co.uk singing its praises. Its one of the many reasons I am going AEM. Dimitri and I will have a ball mapping it shortly. A few of the things as a matter of taste I didnt like were (an no disrespect to Terry on this matter) 2mm head gasket, kills the bottom end, screamer pipe - i prefer recirculating 2 blow off valves, one in recirculating mode is enough for me. 4" down and mid pipe, all my neighbours stopped speaking to me when I brought the car home, the noise is just not road useable IMO, some like it, its just too much an attention seeker for me - I am replacing with a SP custom 3" down and mid with flexi and single performance cat (approx 520cu/ft min i think) and coated and wrapped. Suspension is excellent,, but for my local roads springs are a bit much, so I'll be going down in rates by 20% or so. Struts I believe will work very nicely with them. My silver dash goes in, blue ill, no extra gauges, just the aem where the clock was. Stock front, no spats, std spoiler (I wanted wingless but my bodyshop guys refuse, they are too in love with the stock one.) My alpine 7909 goes in, with the audio control DEQ, prob the soundsteam rub 5ch (i have a few not decided yet), 0 gauge cable on both audio and engine (over spec for the stereo i know) my MTX road thunder components (nice silver cones to match the switch panels), and a JL 10W6v2. New stock wings as well, went of the vents. Colour coding same as body paint some engine covers, brake calipers etc Doing the valve clearances this week, I like them to sound like new, and getting them right helps top end power. Basically I will make this car sweet enough to park beside the £50K plus stuff, and not look chavved up, but fit to leave them in the mirror on the road, the way I personally think a tuned Supra should be. Terry fitted a load of great parts, but not all were to my taste. I am rebuilding it to my standard, which is the highest I can do with a target in mind. Terry loved it as it was, but its horses for courses I guess. While Terry took forever to get it sorted, in all fairness he is a very decent chap to deal with, he does his best despite running a very busy company all week. I have a lot of late nights ahead as this car is to be finished by the end of the month.
