supragold
I already have a canon DSLR for capturing decent pics but am now looking for something compact so I can take out and about with me. Looking to spend around £200 - £300. What are peoples recommendations?

tichkent
I'm overjoyed with my Casio Exilim EX-S600. Very compact 6MP camera (the "S" range is smaller than the "Z" range) which takes surprisingly good pics. Also pretty cheap these days (£135 new on Amazon, probably available a little cheaper elsewhere, have a look on Kelkoo) because they've released a 10MP version. Not sure why I'd ever need that many pixels, my laptop display is only 1.2 MP! Also takes amazingly good video at pretty much full TV quality(640*480 at 30fps) limited only by memory. This is the main reason I went for this camera - wanted something inexpensive and compact to take snowboarding clips! Anyway - most of the Casio Exilims are pretty decent. Definitely highly recommended.
s3upra
Dont know how compact your looking for,but Panasonic(Leica) FZ series are fantastic-After having one for two months i sold all my dslr stuff.Ive been using leica, nikon and olympus film cameras for 20 years and even compared to these-Picture quality is stunning(grainy low light-but no worse than film)

JamesC
I've been using a Canon Powershot G7 and the pictures seem to be very good. Not the smallest camera in the world though if you already have an slr for the 'real' stuff.
Henk
I have this and I cannot think of a single negative comment, I upgraded from the 5Mp version to this. The amazing thing about it is the battery life, it lasts forever! Even on a 3 week holiday taking photos day & night I never needed to charge it even once! http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/casioz1000/
