rob wild
Hi I was hoping for some advice. I've had a bit of bad luck with my current cat back custom made SS exhaust system. So a mate of mine has offered me his Cat-back 3" mongoose for 100 pounds. My question is that I’ve heard (talking to a few guys at a couple of shows) that these exhausts are well made but don't really add much in the way of power or noise? Is this true and am I better waiting and saving up for a NUR Spec R etc? Plus what power could i achieve out of a stock car with mongoose and full de-cat? Cheers guys Thanks for any advice

JamesG
I went from a Mongoose to a Nur Spec R. No power difference at all. The Nur Spec replaced half of the Mongoose. So is your mate selling the whole exhaust or just half of it? Edited to say: If you remove both your cats, you'll notice a large increase in power. Well worth doing, although you'll probably have to take measures to prevent boost creep (such as fitting a restrictor ring in the exhaust). James. Nick_TC
A 3" exhaust system will see you fine for the average persons modding needs, anything bigger is just for show
rob wild
Cheers for the advice its good to hear that there's not much difference in performance between the nur spec and the mongoose! He's selling me the cat-back section of the exhaust and he's getting me a full de-cat section as well. I think i'll go for it as its a really good price. plus they seem easy to fit not that i've put one on before, can you get the gaskets from all the usual places i.e. halfords etc Thanks
