O/D light again

T2 MSW

Recommended Posts

I know this has been done over and over. The search button is my friend and I have spent ages investigating this.

From what I have read my symptoms are different and I have a specific question I cant find the answer too.

Symptoms : O/D light flashes right from starting the car up. Slip light and T/C are perminent lit, and it appears the TC cant be turned on.

I believe this is either code 42 or an issue with the convertor. However troubleshooting it is difficult as I am relying on a garage some two hours away.

My specific question to help rule stuff out is can the delimiter be removed so it's back to how it came in from japan and would the ECU then need reseting? If its the delimiter the issue should then go away right?

Then if its still occuring it could be code 42, the wires can be checked and the fix on here can be followed.

If the issue still occurs then its speed sensor or something more serious.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards

Mike

I have not got the car, so its a bit difficult, ive not bought it yet. The garage are telling me its not the convertor and that they are getting no ecu code or auto codes!

when you got the error were the symptoms the same as above?

If you have not bought it yet walk away.

I had the exact same as you have wrote but only difference is mines started after the car was running for a while.

When it happens the gear change is hard, it bangs into gear.

I would not buy it if this was me.

Its a fresh import from japan, It was not doing it when I test drove the car and hence put a deposit down. Its since they have done the SVA on it. Which screams convertor apparently its been ruled out.

I get this occasionally and the last time I checked it was code 42.

Thinking of taking the convertor out (so it reads in kph) so then I know if its faulty or not.
