Guest skeeters
Hi all, Need to get a new battery for my MKiV TT 96 import model. Looking at my local supplier ( Auto 5 in Belgium ), the ones they are suggesting are much bigger than the one I currently have installed. One currently in the car is a 12V 45ah 190A and by the looks of it size would just about power a small light bulb or even a 2CV Dolly. One in my local store would fit in the battery tray but the ah and A ratings are higher. Question is does this matter and if so what's the limit ? TIA Skeeters.... jamesmark
If it has the smaller batter terminals the ones over here have the code

There are pros and cons in terms of battery design for say long term storage (the ability to hold charge a long time and/or to deep cycle) and the high current capacity (the CCA for starting the car) / Ah for continuous load. but generally get the highest you can within budget etc. You probably only worry about types if you need a battery that can withstand long term storage (= going completely flat) without getting damaged...
