I can't really afford to do it, but thinking about it is free, so what is the next stage of modding my Soop? I've got the exhaust, air filter, de-cat, FCD, SAFC, boost controller - is it cams next? Cheers guys

Cams don't really offer VFM and aren't really necessary until you have a big turbo and raised rev limit.

IMHO, go for a set of 650's then save for a single kit. This will offer the best BHP per £ route. Maybe also look at your intercooling.

I'd miss that bit out and get a front mount - I have an ARC SMIC on my UK and still get terrible heat soak on hot days, at a recent Elvington day my car was really struggling yet ChrisR with similar mods + FMIC was cool all day long.

I don't think the SMIC gets enough flow to take advantage of any increased efficiency over stock :(

What about everything Chris Wilson said about FMICs not doing much as the air would choose to go around the large frontal area, whereas the SMIC is located in such a place that forces air through it. I'd also lose my active spoiler which I'm rather fond of, though I understand your point.

To make ANY intercooler work you MUST properly duct it. You have to give the air no choice but to go through it and in the case of FMIC's through the rad behind it too.

Also, large apertures are un-required too - you don't need a Bomex or Do-luck nose to make the IC more efficient - it just means the rocks have a higher chance of denting your new purchase. A smaller apature at speed will create a lower pressure area in-front of the FMIC or SMIC (as it will have squeezed through the small aperture and then entered a larger area in front of the IC) and slows the air and makes it easier for it to pass through and it suffers less turbulance.

Have a look at the front of the JUN Akira Supra for an example of this.

FMIC + Fuel System are deffo your next objectives power wise but you can gain more time with bigger brakes and better suspension.
