Rob
I noticed some high idling when warm yesterday, about 1400rpm after a 30 min drive, and did a search on here. As a result I had a good look round the engine bay just now, and from cold, if I shove my hand down where the first de-cat pipe joins the manifold I can feel the air blowing. It feels like it's coming from under the heat shield. Is there a manifold gasket and could it, or the manifold itself fail? NA BTW!
jaymdee
You need to get it on a ramp and check to see if you've lost one of the manifold studs connecting the downpipe from the Turbo to the first CAT. I had this. Cost £20 for a set of new studs and £50 for restudding the downpipe and reconnecting it all
Rob
Well it's a non-turbo, but I get what you're saying. It's a 12 year old car now. If I remove air pipes and the heat shield would I be able to inspect from above, as I don't have access to a ramp, and I don't want to be paying Kwik-fit monkees to mess about? jaymdee
Oops didn't read your sig. Is there not a friendly garage near where you can just drive on for no charge, and cup your hands around to see where the blowing is coming from?
