Is that it fully extended ? ie, it doesn't extend?

When you say it fits the hole, is that the whole lot or just that top spike bit, have you replaced the lot ?

BTW I know someone who works at Mercedes so that'll be handy :D

So, if I ask her for a price on the 'stubby aerial for the new SL' that'll be the only one they do?

BTW, you already fitted one then? Pics and price you paid?

I just done a search to see if i could come up with any suppliers of the aerial- cutting out mercedes and therefore reducing costs.

http://www.hettich-promodul.com/engl/index.html

These people stock an aerial they say is for the slk- presumably its the older type though because itdoesn't look the same

...

Just found these people in japan http://www.benz-parts.co.jp/r170page.html they have slk aerials for just over £45- thats gonna be plus duty and vat i should think though

Be careful with these sort of aerials, a lot of them need a 12v supply sent down the core of the aerial lead in order to power the amplifier built into the base, the probability is that your stereo won't provide this, and you may need to obtain an aftermarket unit to phantom the power to the aerial.

Chris is right. The easiest way to find out, is to fit one first, then try to get reception on MW. (FM signals are much stronger and may not be apparent whilst stationary).

In theory, you shouldn't be able to get any reception at all on MW if you need a phantom power adaptor.

Phanton power adaptors are around £12
