are you using the correct cable!

thought the one that came with the 360 in the box wasnt for HD. and you need to buy it seperatly, like this one? (360 HD Component cable)

The cable supplied with the 360 (well premium package) is for both TV and HDTV it has a little switch on it. Cant you just use that and run it into the scart connection on your TV..? I bought and use a component cable but sadly looks like your TV does not have comp in.

What connections come out of the Xbox as well as the VGA plug..?

I have tried the red and white sockets all that does if give me sound on AV3 but no pic or a pic on AV4 and no sound. I have also tried putting it into scart and it just defaults as a normal TV

Even with the switch on the scart plug set to HDTV..? Also have you gone to the settings on the Xbox Dashboard and adjusted the HD resolution settings on there..?

Hi there

Had a similar problem with my Pioneer. Great picture but no sound, set it up dead right but didn't work.

I had to leave the RGB in and plug the red and white audio into the scart adapter which came with xbox 360. Then plug the scart into one of the sockets which worked with the RGB conection.

This worked for me.

Worth a try..

Looking at your product manual you have everything setup correctly.

http://www.tradenet.sharp.co.uk/files/Consumer_Electronics/LCD_Television/LC37XD1E/LC37XD1E145.pdf

With the VGA in there and the audio in EXT4 they should work together. We know the two audio cables independently work so the problem is either down to the sound input on EXT4 or your jack.

Try connecting the sound via the jack to the input on your PC and see if that works. If not it's the jack else it looks like the tv connector is faulty (Doubt that though).

By the way, the Sharp TVs (if yours is full HD, I'm assuming it's probably the 37XD1E?) won't actually do full HD (1080p) through the VGA or component inputs.

You can only actually get 1080p on them via HDMI inputs.

Still it's moot anyway, as I believe the 360 only supports 1080i output at the moment (MS announced a firmware upgrade for 1080p support, but there's still no way of actually getting a 1080p signal OUT of the box!).

yeah I found that out when I tried getting 1080p seems a bit cheeky of MS to say "oh yes the 360 can do 1080p however there is no way of getting it to do it". Surly it would be like all our supras still being limited to 112mph and no derestrictors.
