Driving in Germany

Im of for a little trip thru Germany, Denmark and around Sweden in 2 weeks time.

 

Its been a few years since I last drove in Germany and ive been told that a lot of the autobhan is now restricted, is this true?

 

Last time I was there they had a sign not unlike our national speed limit sign at the start of the derestricted zone usually between exits, is this still the same.

 

Also if its wet the limit is 130kph tops?

 

Ill be traveling on the A27 from Cuxhaven to Bremen, then on the A1 around Hamburg to Puttsgarden. Autoroute and tomtom say this should take 3 hours, Im hopeing to do it in 2 if traffic permits.

Yes, still the same, the "national speed limit" sign means unrestricted. The 130Kph is a recommended speed for unrestricted autobahns at all times, there's no specific limit when it's wet (that's France). Most of the autobahns seem to have overhead signs that they use to put temporary 130Kph limits on when it rains though or is busy, a bit like the variable speed limits on the M25.

It highly depends on where you are going. I would say we've got 2/3 unrestricted autobahn left here in germany but there are MANY construction sites at which you have to slow down to 80 or 100 km/h. But especially at night there are still completly free stretches of track.
