Syed Shah
Not common on these cars, and nigh on impossible with proper tuning etc. So, what boost did you run? AFRs? Who tuned it? This should not happen, and I would get to the bottom of it first before throwing in another engine.
Darren
Ive posted this before but Jap Cars in Hythe, Kent stock most Jap engines..They have normal Supra engines and 6 VVTI engines on the shelf or find a breaker somewhere but thats not going to have any guarantee. Rich
was running 1.2 bar with restrictor ring, and both turbines were shattered ,mechanics done a compression test abd dropped 2 pistons and a leak coming from the bore.
Matt Harwood
With 660 injectors that really shouldn't have happened. I agree with Syed, its most likely a set-up problem with the fuelling. Sorry to hear of your problems, but get it checked out when the new engine a turbos get fitted. Don't just fit them and run in the same state of tune. Syed Shah
1.2bar and det? I think you were running lean. Did you ever check AFRs with a WB?

Rich
The problem has occured when it was standard fuel system and standard ceramics with restrictor ring. All those bits were in the process of getting fitted now .On the original diagnosis he thought that it was the turbos because that is a known weakness, but he did a compression test this morning which showed the problem up. Syed Shah
What mods were on at the time? Just decat/exhaust/1.2bar? AFRS: Air to fuel ratios. A wideband is a sensor for measuring them (across a great range, not just stoich or rich). If that was the case, then perhaps you were running lean, apparently this does happen on J-specs (as opposed to UKs rich run rich).
Darren
Run lean, shag your engine not just your turbos its an expensive mistake to make. Hope you get it all sorted.
dangerous brain
If its any consolation I am looking for an engine and there is quite a large choice to go for. I am tempted to go for the one that Michel of the forum has as its coming from a known source. It wont be hard to find another motor, just wont be cheap to do the whole job.
