An annoying pop up

CJ

Recommended Posts

I have just started to get an annoying pop up when using Microsoft Outlook.

It is the one whereby it comes up and asks you to put in your password when connecting to the mail server. I put my password in and then tick the "remember me2 box but it is still coming up all the time.

I currently use the TalkTalk server and mailbox on outlook and also use Googlemail with a forwarding function to send from there to my TalkTalk email address.

Is there anything in settings I can tweak to stop this? Or, alternatively, is there any reason why it should have just started?

Not the best way around it, but try put the wrong password into it.

Has your password changed recently, it might have cached the old password.

I don't think I have changed the password  I will clear the cache, shut down and see what happens then.

This often happens when the mail provider is having 'issues' - chances are it will fix itself when they sort themselves out.

Yeah, very good point, usually when they do account maint, it breaks email things. I used to get my dad phone me within 5 mins of my ISP doing work.. He was even quicker than the outage emails.

I was thinking along these lines too. I hadn't changed anything and prior to today it had been working fine.

This is pretty common with pop3 based email, especially if your outlook is configured to poll for new mail more regularly then 10 minute intervals. try making it wait longer.

Where do I alter the settings for that? I use Windows XP and Outlook
