Guys where do I find my WEP key for my wireless network?

I've gone into the control panel thing of my adsl router but dont know where to find this

When I set up my network I really just muddled my way through the procedure hence I am now clueless when it comes to adding anther wireless laptop

Hi m8, it will be stored on the router itself, though to be honest WEP is not really very secure anyway, it's about as useful as a chocolate teapot in keeping your network safe.

Don't forget to add the MAC address of the new laptop to the router as well if you enabled MAC filtering.

I have a buffalo cable router myself so cannot help you with which menu it will be under on your router.

PS : Hiding SSID doesn't stop anything these days, even drivers can see it through the SSID hiding.

Maybe - but it's all about minimising the risk. If you were a car thief and saw two similar cars parked together - one with unlocked doors and the keys in the ignition, and one locked with a cat 1 alarm, which one would you steal?

Yeah, and if you put too much protection in, it makes it more of a challenge.

To be fair, my firewall runs a captive portal style system, so any random person getting past my weak 64bit key, still gets stuck on my firewall with 64k speed internet access...

bollox IE isnt loading up any pages it just comes up with a msg saying 'no connectin is currently available' and then gives me the option to work offline or try again, when I click 'try again' it hangs on 'detecting proxy settings, then 'page cannot be displayed' FFS :rolleyes
