blitz supra
Been looking on ebay for a friend who's looking for a RX8 for his missus, I can't beleive the amount of total idiots on there including dealers who try and sell them as a 1300cc, I would have thought once the deal is done and the buyer trys to insure and tax it and then discovers its a 2616cc, and that it has the highest emissions and road tax bracket the seller would be liable for selling a car under false pretence and possibily this be classed as fraud??? Scoboblio
It's hardly suprising when Mazda technical specifications describe its displacement as "2 x 654cc". http://www.mazda.co.uk/NR/rdonlyres/003D4048-42C9-4E57-8D6C-FECB1A3F7643/0/RX8_Specifications.pdf

Its 2x 654cc rotors = 1308cc which i agree it should be, My point is these sellers are leaving themselves wide open to reprocussions surely.. Buyers will be under the misconseption they will be eligible for cheap insurance and road tax, However the Rex is only grp 16 which is nothing for what it is. A few dealers of imports tried this on with the RX7's when they first started coming over years back but usually this gets picked up in the end by DVLA or insurance companies. Scoboblio
To be honest the road tax banding doesn't really matter, since IIRC the RX8 was released after they switched over to C02 emissions to measure the amount you pay rather than the displacement of the engine (2001). We are waiting for the Tax renewal form at end of Jan to see what Sallys Tax will be this year as the emissions are right at the top end of the scale, won't stop her getting a third Rx8 though i don't think, we rate them that much.. Scoboblio
According to the DVLA it'll be £190 if it was registered on or after 1st March 2001, or £210 if it was registered on or after 23rd March 2006.... that's when the new "gas guzzler" tax bracket came into effect
