Wez
I think you can remove the inner part which will really quieten it down alot or I think you can buy other inserts which offer a slightly different sound.
Gaz Walker
As Wez says... quieter insert available. I keep them in stock, they are £15 each. Regards, Gaz.
Clarkey
Thanks guys! Final question Does anyone know what the screw is for at the back of hks ssq ? It appears to be adjustable. My instructions were in japanese and I've checked out the HKS website - but no mention of it there.
Wez
It adjusts the tension on the spring so when you are running higher boost it doesn`t leak.
kaahari
Hi, raising old thread, because got broblems with hks bov. My car was fitted with old hks ssq. In low rpm it wont open right (light turbo stall noise) and had couple of good stalls in higher rpm. Mostly it works fine when rpm ~3000+. Is there a way to refurb bov (/spring), or should i change new(or stock)? There is adjusting nut behind bov but how can i adjust is right, there were warnings on this forum not to adjust it manually...:(

The SSQV's are pretty fluttery. Is there any way you can record it and post up a clip? One way to tell would be to strip the fin out of the SSQV and see if the noise changes in any way. If it does then it's just the BOV you can hear. The SSQV is a pretty good bit of kit, it shouldn't really be giving you any problems. You can strip them apart by undoing all of the allen bolts that hold the cover.

kaahari
Are you sure the noise your getting the turbo stalling or is just the valve opening under light lift off? Not sure, in low rpm + low load it gives low sound like: cha-cha-cha.... But with high load + high rpm it works fine (i think) it dumps all air fine, for example, gear changes. One way to tell would be to strip the fin out of the SSQV and see if the noise changes in any way. If it does then it's just the BOV you can hear. Have to check this later... thanks for info
