hodge
Hi chap and chapets Imhaving a nightmare to start my car in a morning. its a 1994 TT J-spec, if that helps. Anyay, my local garage has been closed for a refit where I always get my super unleaded so on the way to work i put some BT ultimite in, and had nowt but bother since. It runs fine when its warm but it really struggles on a morning to start. The car turns over but wont fire. I have to pump the throttle abit and have my foot about a quarter of the way down to get it to fire. When it fires its really lumpy as if its not getting enough fuel. I have to press the throttle further but its still lumpyto stop it cutting out. Fiall if I hold it for about 30secs ish (still lumpy) and rev it til the blow off walve goes off it ticks over perfect them as if its blasted a blockage free or something. Anyone had the same experiences and or any ideas. Oh and since ive filled up with different petrol just to iliminate the crap petrol idea.
Rayman
Could be dodgy fuel, i had this problem with my previous car, bought the fuel and then within 10miles the car starting cutting out on me, like fuel cut, kangarooing all over the shop, all manner of warning lights. Anyway took it to bmw and they said the fuel filter was caked in sh1te. Could be something similar, might be worth changing your fuel filter as they arnt expensive! This happened because i got the dregs out of the bottom of the fuel tank at the petty station.
hodge
Yeah I thought of something like that. So you think when I rev it its freeing itself of shit.
silvershark44
Yeah happened to my dads golf gtdi. Dogy fuel. Aparrently on fuel pipelines one minute they could be sending Diesel down, then petrol, then vegetable oil! sounds crazy, but the car is a 52 plate 20000 miles and daily drive and always fully serviced no matter. The injectors were absolutely clogged in shite!

hodge
Ive done a diagnostic check and found a code 42 and code 31. I no that 42 is speed sensor fault. And code 31 is MAF sensor. But will any of these stop the car from starting. Oh and where is the MAF sensor. I have a 1993 J-spec TT.
mikeyb10supra
sounds to me like some sort of cold start choke mechanism or throttle actuator not working correctly, if it was poor fuel, it would be stubling even when hot
hodge
Ive tried everything I can think of now. Im totally stumped. Is there any way I can check if the fuel lines, injectors or fuel filter are blocked without stripping everything down. The cars not even trying now. It turns but it wont fire as if there is no petrol in the tank.
