Conrad Posted October 24, 2006 Share Posted October 24, 2006 My friend was having trouble with his laptop so i took it off him and re-installed windows so that everything would be running nicely with service pack 2 and a few bits of software he may need. The laptop was running smoothly until i used microsoft word and only 20 keys are working!! does anybody hav a solution?? i dont wana tel him iv broken his laptop! aido Posted October 24, 2006 Share Posted October 24, 2006 You've got got num lock or fn lock on the laptop on have you as that will turn some of the keys into numbers? Gamer Posted October 24, 2006 Share Posted October 24, 2006 In Word Options set the WordPerfect compatibility options. Specifically there are two options in Tools | Options | General that refer to WordPerfect compatibility - make sure both are marked off. That 'should' do the trick. edd_t Posted October 24, 2006 Share Posted October 24, 2006 this can happen if when you re-installed the laptop you choose the UK-Extended keyboard option instead of UK-Standard. With extended it thinks the keyboard has 102 buttons and the ones accessed with the FN are always turned on. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
