I have old oil which seems to have come out under my standard BOV,do the brackets around it need to be tighter?

Also if added an gud induction kit to my twin turbo does it make the turbo spoil up noises louder like it did in my mr2? becourse i just love things that suck hard.

Brackets?

I had a leaking BOV recently. Looked like this

It turned out that it was leaking from the top cap of the BOV itself rather than from the hose. A replacement BOV fixed the problem OK.

I haven't heard of Gud induction kits. Who sells them?

There is some oily BOV info in this thread and this thread - seems to be a common theme but I don't think any of us have highlighted where the oil is coming from, the inside of my BOV was clean and there has been no oil since I swapped the turbos *shrug*

Induction kit - yes it will increase the noise, you won't notice it as much as the MR2 because it's not inches from your ear but you will notice it - the downside is that you'll probably lose some filtration and possible draw in hot engine bay air if you don't box the filter in.

Oh and you might find this useful too :D

O.k mcanny,u used to give me heart attacks from imoc.co.uk in the mr2 days, is this oily BOV the course of the smoke commin out ure exhaust? i dont have this problem only when the car is partly cold or outside temp is at a certain place.

The oil is pritty old looking and the patch isnt as big as the ones in ure pic, do i have to worry, or is it simply the BOV gone itself or pipes which need to sorted?

thanks dude

LOL sorry for past scares, I don't do it on purpose :)

The oil on my BOV seemed to be coming from elsewhere, when I removed all the pipework it all seemed clean.

I'd recommend wiping the oil off and then just keep an eye on it - when I did this the oil didn't come back, it coincided with the new turbos but I don't think it was related.

Take the BOV off and have a look in the pipes to see if there is any evidence of oil.

I'v been getting oil inside the blow off valve(HKS SS purple fin) i thought all blow off valves get a bit oil inside, all my other cars in the past when i'v fitted a dump valve have had traces of oil in them and i'v never had any problems, also aint checked mine but a little oil in the intercooler pipes is has also been known on my other cars with no probs.

You may find that the oil is coming from the engine breather system, which 90% 0f cars have, it vent's the crankcase into the intake manifold, and some of this atomised oil can find its way out, through the BOV hoses, it mixes with the road dust and becomes what looks like oily sawdust.

400BHP

If this is the case then is that what an "oil catch can" would be used for??? Excuse my dumbness!!

I have this problem too, i pulled of one of my intercooler pipes and there was this horrid murky oil residue on the inside of the pipes. dread to think what the inside of my spanking new 3row core looks like by now!!

Every mortal part was taken off my motor and cleaned before she was rebuilt with a new shortmotor! Use new tubbys aswell so it cant be that!

I can well believe the "breather System" theory!

The oil seperator (you call it catch can) will only seperate the liquid oil, not the oil vapour, which is what gets suckied into the intake and combusted. This vapour can build up and leak out as liquid, having already passed the seperator.
