Never really been a problem in our area. Our area is relatively quiet with a lot of retirees and young professionals however because we are right next to town we do get a lot of people passing by at night (majority are drunk). Quite recently there has been an increase in cars getting broken into, tyres getting slashed. Last week my neighbours VR6 Golf was stolen. Apparently 4 youths were at it and it took only seconds for them to hotwire the car. Fortunately that night I got back late at night and therefore i had to park at another street. Im getting really concerned now because I believe my car will be the next target on this street- certainly doesnt help matters after ive recently fitted a set of chrome 19s.

It currently has a cat1 alarm and ive just started putting a steering lock too. Dead dead paranoid now whenever i just hear the faintest of suspicious noises outside. Really really want to hurry up this mortgage so i can move somewhere maybe has a garage. Parking in the streets when you'r living in town just seem too risky now.

I know its not much of a suggestion and i think i would sell my car if it ever got stolen, but have you thought of getting a tracker fitted?? May put your mind abit more at rest. I would be up every 5mins looking out of the window and id be so worried about people damaging my car to. Hope you manage to sort something pal.

pulling the efi fuse? sounds a great idea. Won't cause the ecu to reset later when i put it back in will it? anyway some idiot caused havoc in the street last night when a few cars wipers were put up. thought i would have had to get the arm replaced when i looked at it initially.

What a bloody shame when some drunken tosser just wants to damage your car. I don't know what the world it coming too buddy. Alarms are great but they don't stop a size 12 in the side of the bodywork. Feel for you friend! Is you car close to your house - if so then could you set up a small CCTV camera or something. If your car gets damaged then the police will at least have something to go off yeh!!

no i live in a basement flat. So i cant see anything till i jump out. Its good to live in the city centre but just so much hassle when your car stands out from others.

Couple of years back someone broke the wiper arm and i couldnt source a new arm till 3 weeks later. In bonnie scotland it always rains :(
